In this story there are a couple examples of both punitive and restorative practices used

by Mr. Harris. The punitive example I noticed is his interaction with Emma while in class. Mr.
Harris talked about his disappointment with Emma and said she typically does not act like this.
Mr. Harris should instead ask Emma what is happening to cause her to not be herself. Mr. Harris
did nothing to help Emma feel welcome or engaged in the classroom. The restorative practices I
noticed in the story was the interaction with Brian. Mr. Harris was able to use questions to lead
Brian towards understanding what he was doing was wrong. Through this Mr. Harris helped
both Brian and Jeremiah, evident by the fist bump between the two after the conflict was
resolved.
