not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not enter therein” (Isa.
35: 8).
Unusual Burial
Pastor Henry, was to hold his first ever graveside burial service at a pauper's cemetery for an
destitute man with no family or friends.
Father Henry, not knowing where the cemetery was, made several wrong turns and got lost.
He eventually arrived an hour late, the hearse was nowhere in sight, the spade was next to the
open hole, and the workmen were sitting under a tree eating lunch.
Father Henry, being a reliable young pastor went to the open grave and found the vault lid already
in place. Feeling guilty because of his lateness, he preached an impassioned and lengthy service,
sending the deceased to the great beyond in considerable style.
As the good Father returned to his car, he overheard one of the workman say to the other, ' Do
you know, fancy that, I've been putting in septic tanks for twenty five years and I ain't never seen
anything like that.'
1. The green light gives permission to “go” and an indication of where to “go” (I Cor. 9: 26,
27). 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating
the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to
others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. (invest your talent to the lord)
2. The yellow light means to proceed but with caution (Matt. 24: 4; 4 Jesus answered: “Watch
out that no one deceives you.(cellphones, tv, internet, games)
Mk. 4: 24, 24 “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will
be measured to you—and even more.
Lk. 8: 18; 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more;
whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.
3. Red means to stop and to not proceed in the direction being traveled (Gal. 5: 1; It is for
freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened
again by a yoke of slavery.
Sometimes when people have to make a difficult decision, they do not always stop and look at all
of the possibilities before making a final decision.
4. No “U turn” allowed in service to God (Lk. 9: 62 62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand
to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.
5. The road is not always level (Lk. 13: 24 24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow
door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.
BUT
Phili. 3: 14; 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me
heavenward in Christ Jesus.
6. No Overtaking - busy on looking at others
Prov. 21:2 - Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts.
Satan has laid his trap to catch men and win them to his side by trying to prevail upon them to
depend upon their finite, erring fellowmen
But when a reproof is given upon this point, the enemy takes the counsel given, and presents it in
such a perverted light that those who desire to follow their own judgment feel at liberty to plan and
devise important measures without counseling with their brethren. Thus another error strives for
recognition. Men go to an extreme in one direction, and if corrected, go to an extreme in the opposite
direction. Testimonies to Ministers, p. 313
Can you imagine traveling down the road, paying no attention to information and directional
signs?
As we continue our travel towards heaven, may we take in our hearts and minds all of Gods
road signs in order for us to walk in the right path.
