Purpose
This document describes the application procedure for licenses of eSight products
in various scenarios and the way to use these licenses.

eSight 19.1 supports new deployment but does not support upgrade from existing versions.

License upgrade is required for upgrade from existing V300R010C00SPC6XX and
V300R010C00CP50XX to eSight 20.0. For special project requirements, contact the MO.
Procedure
Step 1 Log in to ESDP at https://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and choose License Activation
> Entitlement Activation.
Step 2 Select an entitlement.
1. Enter the search criteria and click Search.
2. Select one or more entitlements as required.
3. Click Next to go to the Bind ESN page.
NOTICE
1. Click the activation ID to view Spart details. Ensure that the selected
entitlement item contains the 8803xxxx resource item code and the
8806xxxx annual fee code. eSight uses the SNS annual fee mode. In new
deployment scenarios, the license with the annual fee information can be
activated only when both the resource license item and the annual fee
license item are available.
2. If the resource license item and the annual fee license item are in different
authorization IDs, activate the 8803xxxx resource authorization and then
the 8806xxxx annual fee authorization.
Step 3 Enter the ESN or click to select an existing device (NE) to obtain the ESN.
Separate multiple ESNs with commas (,). Then, click Next.
NOTE
When you select an existing device (NE) to obtain the ESN, check whether the selected ESN
is consistent with the actual one.

NOTE
To ensure license combination, the ESNs for the new license to be applied for and the
original license must be the same. Otherwise, the ESDP cannot automatically combine the
licenses.
Procedure
Step 1 Verify the device ESN: Access the Equipment (Node) Management page and
verify that the ESN is the same as the historical record on the ESDP.
Step 2 Select an entitlement and complete the license application by referring to
Creating/Activating the License.
The ESDP automatically combines the original and new licenses.

2.4 License Upgrade Paths lists version changes that require license upgrade.
Precautions
● You have obtained the original license file from the customer. If the original
license file is lost, handle the problem by referring to 8.9 Obtaining the
Original License File.
● You have obtained the current eSight version. For details, see 8.8 Obtaining
the eSight Version.
Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Version Change.
Step 2 Read the notice to users carefully, select I have read the above carefully, and
click Next.

Procedure
Step 1 Obtain the ESN of the eSight server. For details, see 8.3 Obtaining an ESN from
eSight.
Step 2 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Activation > Password Activation.
Step 3 Enter the activation password.
1. Enter the activation password. If multiple contracts exist, click Add and enter
multiple activation passwords.
NOTE
– You can obtain the activation password from the license certificate of the product.
An example is provided on the right of the page. You can move the mouse pointer
to the picture to zoom in on the picture.
– The paper license certificate is delivered with the product, while the electronic copy
is directly sent to the mailbox specified by the distributor that has signed the
contract with Huawei. If you do not have the paper or electronic license certificate,
contact Huawei's reseller and provide your contract number to obtain the
activation password.
2. Read and confirm the message. Select I have read the above carefully.
3. Click Next.
Step 4 Enter the ESN or click to select an existing device (NE) to obtain the ESN.
Separate multiple ESNs with commas (,). Then, click Next.
NOTE
When selecting an existing ESN, verify that the selected ESN is the same as the actual one.
Step 6 In the dialog box that is displayed, click OK. The system displays a message
indicating that the activation task has been submitted. Click Download to save
the license file to a local path.

Step 2 Set ESN Change Type to With Revocation Code, enter the revocation code of the
license file to be changed, and click Verify.
After the revocation code is verified, the system displays the device information of
the original ESN.
Step 3 Enter the new ESN and click Save. In the dialog box that is displayed, click OK.
Step 4 Choose My Task > Operation Record. On the My Task page, view the ESN
change task. Click the link under Download to download the license file or .zip
package containing multiple license files to a local path.

3. Click Select Equipment (Node). In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the
search criteria (such as the ESN) to quickly search for the device. Select the
search result and click OK.
4. Enter a new ESN and click Submit.
Step 3 Choose My Task > My Application from the navigation pane on the left to view
the application and current handler. Contact the approver to speed up approval.
NOTE
In China, the ESN change application is approved by the service delivery supervisor of the
rep office; outside China, the ESN change application is approved by the regional service
delivery supervisor.
Step 4 After the application is approved, choose My Task > Operation Record and find
out the corresponding task. Click Download to download the license file.

Step 2 Set the application stage to Before PAC, set the application mode to With
revocation code (approval not required), and click Add.
Step 3 In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the revocation code of the license to be
adjusted. Separate multiple revocation codes with semicolons (;) and click Search.
After the information is verified, click Confirm.
Step 5 Click Download to save the license files on the Operation History page.

Step 2 Select After PAC or select Without revocation code (approval required), set
required information, and click Add.
Step 3 In the dialog box that is displayed, select a device activation method, set required
data, separate multiple records with semicolons (;), and click Search. After the
information is verified, click Confirm.
Step 5 After the process is approved, find the task and click Download to download the
license files on the Operation History page.

NOTICE
If the license file is the same as that listed in the contract, but does not meet the
network requirements, the frontline product manager should modify the contract
through LTC.
3.7.2 Precautions
● The contract ID is obtained.
● The issue description is provided.
3.7.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the SCM Customer Problem Management system at: https://
w3.huawei.com/supply/claim/.
Step 2 Fill in the application and submit it. For details, see the instruction attached in the
application form.
Step 3 Check the workflow processing status. After the supply chain market contact
specialist processes the application, a new order number is generated.
Step 4 Log in to ESDP at https://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and choose Order Management
> Entitlement Management. Query the new entitlement by ERP Order No., click
Search, select the entitlement, and click Active License.

3.8.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in the Huawei support-E website as the frontline delivery personnel to collect
rectification notification information (including the rectification ID and

Temporary licenses are used for POC test in market expansion stage, product
showcase, and test before product launch. A temporary license has a fixed validity
period.
When a temporary license is used on a commercial network, tell the customer the
risks and make a written record. When a license is activated for the first time, the
validity period needs to be filled in. The license with a fixed validity period cannot
be adjusted and the customer name cannot be changed.
4.1.2 Precautions
● The pre-sales expansion license can be issued only after being approved by
the direct supervisor and regional directors of the product department of the
enterprise business.
4.1.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in to ESDP at https://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and choose Enterprise
Temporary License > Pre-sale Expansion License Application.
Step 2 Set mandatory parameters, including the product version, customer, direct
supervisor, and reason.
Step 3 Configure part information, enter the ESN (obtained based on 8.3 Obtaining an
ESN from eSight), and click Add Equipment. If multiple ESNs exist, separate
them with commas (,). After confirming the parameters, click Approve.
The My Task > My Application page is displayed. You can check the process
status and current handler.
Step 4 After the process is approved, download the license file on the My Task >
Operation Record page.

In this context, you can apply for the brand exhibition license with a validity period
of 90 days.
Procedure
Step 1 Log in to ESDP at https://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and choose Enterprise
Temporary License > Brand Exhibition License Application.
Step 2 Set mandatory parameters, including the exhibition type, product version,
customer, and reason.
Step 3 Configure part information, enter the ESN (obtained based on 8.3 Obtaining an
ESN from eSight), and click Add Equipment. After the parameters are verified,
click Submit.
The My Task > My Application page is displayed. You can check the process
status.
Step 4 After the process is approved, download the license file on the My Task >
Operation Record page.

4.3.2 Precautions
● Self-service download is not allowed. Licenses need to be approved by the
SPDT manager of each product line of Huawei.
● The longest validity period of a temporary license is 90 days.
4.3.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in to ESDP (https://w3.huawei.com/prod/prdportal.html) and choose R & D
External Test License Application.
Step 2 Set mandatory parameters, including the product version, customer, and reason.
Step 3 Configure part information, enter the ESN (obtained based on 8.3 Obtaining an
ESN from eSight), and click Add Equipment. After the parameters are verified,
click Submit.
The My Task > My Application page is displayed. You can check the process
status and current handler.
Step 4 After the process is approved, download the license file on the My Task >
Operation Record page.

In the carrier scenario, the Carrier GTS staff can use either of the following
methods to apply for a temporary license: applying for an exhibition license and
downloading a commissioning license. An exhibition license is a fixed-term license,
which can last for one year. As for a commissioning license, the Carrier GTS staff
can apply for a license available for 270 days for each ESN.
Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/), choose Fixed-term License >
Apply Fix-term License, and click Exhibition in the overview.
Step 2 Set the project level and product version information, set Configuration Upload
Mode to Manual Configuration, and set Fixed-Term License Operation to
Replace.
Step 3 Configure the part information as required, set GTS Service Engineer and Direct
Supervisor, and click Submit.
Step 4 The GTS service engineer enters the ESN (for details about obtaining the ESN, see
8.3 Obtaining an ESN from eSight) and submits the application to the supervisor
for approval.
Step 5 After the status changes to Close, click the e-Flow number to download the
license.

Note: In the carrier scenario (Carrier GTS), download the commissioning license by
referring to 5.2 Downloading a Commissioning License. The following uses the
enterprise network scenario as an example.
6.1.2 Precautions
● With each ESN, you can apply for a 30-day commissioning license for each R
version of each product (approval not required). For each R version of a
device, the license can be applied for a maximum of three times. License
application does not need to be approved in this situation.
● Before the PAC, the commissioning license must be replaced with a
commercial license of the customer. This will be audited.
6.1.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Download Commissioning License.
Step 2 Select (Enterprise) Network rollout before PAC for Scenario. Set mandatory
parameters, including customer, the product version, and commissioning template.
Step 3 Configure license information, add device (NE) information, and click Submit. The
system delivers a 30-day license for commissioning.

6.2.2 Precautions
● The validity period of such commissioning licenses is 14 days. The licenses can
be applied for in self-service mode (cc to the AMS director). The number of
application times is not limited.
● After the network accidents or problems are rectified, the commissioning
license must be replaced with the original license.
6.2.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Download Commissioning License.
Step 2 Select (Enterprise) Urgent accident recovery for Scenario. Set mandatory
parameters, including customer, the product version, and commissioning template.
Step 3 Configure license information, add device (NE) information, and click Submit. The
system delivers a 14-day license for commissioning.

NOTE
● After obtaining the license file for the first time, back up the file for future use.
● The procedure for importing a license file in a single-node system or a two-node cluster
is the same as that in a three-node cluster.
● The following table lists errors that may occur during license loading.
The license file is invalid. The license file cannot be loaded after the 60-
day grace period.
The ESN is not included in the 1. The license file can be loaded after it is
license. imported for the first time, but the system
enters a 60-day protection period. After the
protection period expires, eSight cannot be
used.
2. If the license file is not imported for the first
time and the ESN in the license file does not
match the ESN of the device, the license file
cannot be loaded when you import the
license file again.
NOTE
If eSight is newly deployed and the license is invalid or has expired, import the license as
prompted, as shown in the following figure.
No risk The value of Risk Level is Change Type for a resource control

Step 3 After the license file is imported, choose License Overview and check whether the
License File Status and Resource Control Item Consumption are the same as
those of the imported license file.
NOTE
If the number of imported license resources is less than the number of used resources, the
license fails to be updated. Delete related devices or expand the license capacity and import
the license again.

Step 1 Log in to ESDP at https://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and choose Order Management
> Entitlement Management.
Step 2 Set search criteria, such as the delivery status and Huawei contract number, and
click Search.
● Select Generate PoE to generate a certificate that does not contain the
customer name.
● Choose Customize PoE. In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the
customer name.
● Choose Email PoE. In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the customer
email address.
Step 4 To save the license entitlement certificate to a local computer, click . To print it,
click .

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the eSight system management tool as an administrator and choose
Maintenance > Collect ESN Information.
Step 2 On the ESN information collection page, perform the operations shown in the
following figure. After the collection is successful, download the .zip file of the
ESN to obtain the ESN information.
Step 3 In a single-node system, the .zip file contains one ESN. In a multi-node cluster, two
ESNs are returned. In a two-node cluster, you need to obtain the ESN information
on both the active and standby nodes.
NOTE
In a multi-node or two-node cluster, bind the two ESNs when applying for and binding a
license. Otherwise, eSight cannot be used properly.

Step 2 Choose License File, select the license file to be revoked, and click Revoke
License. Confirm the information and revoke the license.
Step 3 After the license is revoked, view the license information and revocation code.

commercial license scenario. In the temporary license scenario, the ESDP does not support
this change.

Step 1 Log in to eSight as an administrator and choose System > System Settings >
License Management.
Step 2 Choose License File, select the license to be revoked, and click the license to view
the revocation code.

A Glossary
E
Equipment Serial A string of characters that identify a piece of
Number (ESN) equipment and ensures correct allocation of a
license file to the specified equipment. It is also
called "equipment fingerprint".
Entitlement ID The Entitlement ID is generated by the license
system for authenticating the user's identity
during activation. It is the only license key that
can be found on the ESDP.

License Serial A unique number that identifies a license file.
Number (LSN)
License A permission that the vendor provides for the user
with a specific function, capacity, and duration of
a product. A license can be a file or a serial
number. Usually the license consists of encrypted
codes. The operation authority granted varies with
the level of the license.
License File The license file is an authorization for the
capacity, functions, and validity period of the
installed software. The license file is a .dat file
that is generated using the special encryption tool
according to the contract, and is delivered
electronically. The customer needs to load the
license on the device or software before the
functions supported by the license are applicable.

Preliminary Based on the contract, customers and Huawei sign
Acceptance the acceptance certificate for network devices and
Certificate (PAC) related services. Obtaining the certificate is one of
the conditions for starting engineering to
maintenance (ETM) handover. The PACs include
but are not limited to PAC, RFS, and PAT.
R
Revocation Code A character string that is generated after the
invalidity command is executed. The character
string can be used to change the ESN at the
license website. After the invalidity command is
executed, the license file is invalid.
S
Subscription and The commercial mode of the annual software SnS
support (SnS) fee consists of two parts, including software
support and software subscription, and the
complete software charging mode consists of the
annual software SnS fee and software license fee.
