in various scenarios and the way to use these licenses.

2 eSight License Introduction

2.1 Introduction to ESDP


The Electronic Software Delivery Platform (ESDP) is the new license delivery and
entitlement management platform for Huawei. The ESDP website is https://
app.huawei.com/isdp/, which can be accessed through https://
w3.huawei.com/sdp in Huawei.

2.2 Introduction to License Files


eSight controls functions of different editions versions using license files.
License files are authorized files generated by special encryption tools based on
information about contracts signed by customers and Huawei and information
about the server where eSight is installed. When customers get the license file,
then they manually load their license files to eSight to obtain the permission to
use eSight.
The following table lists license categories supported by eSight.

3 Commercial License Application

3.1 Creating/Activating the License


If you purchase eSight for the first time or perform capacity expansion or upgrade,
use the contract number to apply for a commercial license file.

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to ESDP at https://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and choose License Activation
> Entitlement Activation.
Step 2 Select an entitlement.
1. Enter the search criteria and click Search.
2. Select one or more entitlements as required.
3. Click Next to go to the Bind ESN page.

NOTICE

1. Click the activation ID to view Spart details. Ensure that the selected
entitlement item contains the 8803xxxx resource item code and the
8806xxxx annual fee code. eSight uses the SNS annual fee mode. In new
deployment scenarios, the license with the annual fee information can be
activated only when both the resource license item and the annual fee
license item are available.
2. If the resource license item and the annual fee license item are in different
authorization IDs, activate the 8803xxxx resource authorization and then
the 8806xxxx annual fee authorization.

Step 3 Enter the ESN or click to select an existing device (NE) to obtain the ESN.
Separate multiple ESNs with commas (,). Then, click Next.
NOTE

When you select an existing device (NE) to obtain the ESN, check whether the selected ESN
is consistent with the actual one.

Step 4 After confirming the activation information, click Activate License.

Step 5 Download the license.


If only one entitlement is selected, the message Activated successfully is
displayed. Click Download to download the license, or click Go to Home Page to
finish the processing.

If multiple entitlements are selected, the message "Activating in batches" is


displayed. Click View Task to check the task status, or click Go to Home Page to
finish the processing.

3.2 Combining Licenses for Capacity Expansion


During eSight expansion or upgrade, the ESDP will automatically combine existing
and new resources with the same ESNs. Therefore, the downloaded license file
contains the total number of resources.

NOTE

To ensure license combination, the ESNs for the new license to be applied for and the
original license must be the same. Otherwise, the ESDP cannot automatically combine the
licenses.

Procedure
Step 1 Verify the device ESN: Access the Equipment (Node) Management page and
verify that the ESN is the same as the historical record on the ESDP.
Step 2 Select an entitlement and complete the license application by referring to
Creating/Activating the License.
The ESDP automatically combines the original and new licenses.

3.3 Upgrading the License for a Version Change


A version change refers to the upgrade of the eSight software version without
capacity or function expansion. If function or capacity expansion is involved during

the upgrade, obtain the license by referring to 3.1 Creating/Activating the


License or 3.2 Combining Licenses for Capacity Expansion.

2.4 License Upgrade Paths lists version changes that require license upgrade.

Precautions
● You have obtained the original license file from the customer. If the original
license file is lost, handle the problem by referring to 8.9 Obtaining the
Original License File.
● You have obtained the current eSight version. For details, see 8.8 Obtaining
the eSight Version.

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Version Change.

Step 2 Read the notice to users carefully, select I have read the above carefully, and
click Next.

Step 3 Select the target version.


1. Click Upload File to upload the license file of the source version. After the file
is uploaded, the current product version is automatically filled out.
2. Click Select and select the target product name and version.
3. Click Confirm and Generate License.

Step 4 Click Download to save the license file to a local path.

3.4 Applying for a Commercial License Using the


Activation Password
After purchasing eSight the first time or upgrading and upgrading eSight, you
need to apply for a commercial license based on the contract number.
During eSight expansion or upgrade, the ESDP will automatically combine existing
and new resources with the same ESNs. Therefore, the downloaded license file
contains the total number of resources.

NOTE

The Carrier GTS cannot use this function.

Procedure
Step 1 Obtain the ESN of the eSight server. For details, see 8.3 Obtaining an ESN from
eSight.
Step 2 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Activation > Password Activation.
Step 3 Enter the activation password.
1. Enter the activation password. If multiple contracts exist, click Add and enter
multiple activation passwords.
NOTE

– You can obtain the activation password from the license certificate of the product.
An example is provided on the right of the page. You can move the mouse pointer
to the picture to zoom in on the picture.
– The paper license certificate is delivered with the product, while the electronic copy
is directly sent to the mailbox specified by the distributor that has signed the
contract with Huawei. If you do not have the paper or electronic license certificate,
contact Huawei's reseller and provide your contract number to obtain the
activation password.
2. Read and confirm the message. Select I have read the above carefully.
3. Click Next.

Step 4 Enter the ESN or click to select an existing device (NE) to obtain the ESN.
Separate multiple ESNs with commas (,). Then, click Next.
NOTE

When selecting an existing ESN, verify that the selected ESN is the same as the actual one.

Step 5 After verifying the activation information, click Confirm Activation.

Step 6 In the dialog box that is displayed, click OK. The system displays a message
indicating that the activation task has been submitted. Click Download to save
the license file to a local path.

3.5 Changing the ESN


When the ESN is changed because an accessory, such as a network adapter, is
changed on the eSight server, eSight displays a message indicating that the license
is invalid and enters a 60-day protection period. In this context, you can change
the ESN and obtain a new license file.

3.5.1 Changing the ESN with a Revocation Code


Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > ESN Change > Product Hardware Change.

Step 2 Set ESN Change Type to With Revocation Code, enter the revocation code of the
license file to be changed, and click Verify.

After the revocation code is verified, the system displays the device information of
the original ESN.

Step 3 Enter the new ESN and click Save. In the dialog box that is displayed, click OK.

Step 4 Choose My Task > Operation Record. On the My Task page, view the ESN
change task. Click the link under Download to download the license file or .zip
package containing multiple license files to a local path.

3.5.2 Changing the ESN Without a Revocation Code


Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > ESN Change > Product Hardware Change.

Step 2 Submit an ESN change application.

1. Set ESN Change Type to Without Revocation Code.


2. Set Region, Rep. Office, Approver, and Reason for Adjustment, and upload
an application attachment of the channel.

3. Click Select Equipment (Node). In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the
search criteria (such as the ESN) to quickly search for the device. Select the
search result and click OK.
4. Enter a new ESN and click Submit.

Step 3 Choose My Task > My Application from the navigation pane on the left to view
the application and current handler. Contact the approver to speed up approval.
NOTE

In China, the ESN change application is approved by the service delivery supervisor of the
rep office; outside China, the ESN change application is approved by the regional service
delivery supervisor.

Step 4 After the application is approved, choose My Task > Operation Record and find
out the corresponding task. Click Download to download the license file.

3.6 Adjusting the Network


If the license capacity of each node on the network must be adjusted in the event
of a network plan change, perform operations described in this section to adjust
the license. The version whose SnS software annual fee mode is enabled does not
support network adjustment. eSight has adopted the SnS mode since V300R007.

3.6.1 Adjusting Licenses with Revocation Codes before PAC


Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Network Adjust > Equipment (Node)
Adjust.

Step 2 Set the application stage to Before PAC, set the application mode to With
revocation code (approval not required), and click Add.

Step 3 In the dialog box that is displayed, enter the revocation code of the license to be
adjusted. Separate multiple revocation codes with semicolons (;) and click Search.
After the information is verified, click Confirm.

Step 4 Click Submit after finishing the adjustment.

Step 5 Click Download to save the license files on the Operation History page.

3.6.2 Adjusting Licenses with Revocation Codes After PAC


Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Network Adjust > Equipment (Node)
Adjust.

Step 2 Select After PAC or select Without revocation code (approval required), set
required information, and click Add.

Step 3 In the dialog box that is displayed, select a device activation method, set required
data, separate multiple records with semicolons (;), and click Search. After the
information is verified, click Confirm.

Step 4 Click Submit after finishing the adjustment.

Step 5 After the process is approved, find the task and click Download to download the
license files on the Operation History page.

3.7 Goods Delivery Issue Feedback

3.7.1 Application Scenarios


Compare the license file with the contract. If a feature is included in the contract
but the corresponding license file is not provided, or the quantities are different,
the frontline engineer can start the Claim process.

NOTICE

If the license file is the same as that listed in the contract, but does not meet the
network requirements, the frontline product manager should modify the contract
through LTC.

3.7.2 Precautions
● The contract ID is obtained.
● The issue description is provided.

3.7.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the SCM Customer Problem Management system at: https://
w3.huawei.com/supply/claim/.

Step 2 Fill in the application and submit it. For details, see the instruction attached in the
application form.

Step 3 Check the workflow processing status. After the supply chain market contact
specialist processes the application, a new order number is generated.
Step 4 Log in to ESDP at https://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and choose Order Management
> Entitlement Management. Query the new entitlement by ERP Order No., click
Search, select the entitlement, and click Active License.

3.8 License Rectification

3.8.1 Application Scenarios


If a license encounters a problem due to R&D reasons instead of market or supply
chain reasons, report the problem through the ITR process. After the problem is
located, follow the R&D rectification flow. For issues related to third-party
software and OEM software, follow the contract change flow because these
problems are related to the supply chain. The R&D rectification scenarios include
but are not limited to:
● If a delivered license does not function due to product design defects
(incorrect quotation templates, incorrect configuration algorithms, or license
control or compatibility issues), Huawei needs to provide a new license.
● If no license is available on the live network after a product is switched from a
version that has no license control to a version that has license control for the
first time, Huawei needs to provide a new license.
● If the license on the live network becomes invalid due to changes in product
sales policies or a delay of product GA, Huawei needs to provide a new
license.
● If the license on the live network because invalid because the R version must
be upgraded due to the reasons such as product version combination, Huawei
needs to provide a new license.
● If the product license or eSight license becomes invalid due to rectification of
product software or hardware, Huawei needs to provide a new license.

3.8.2 Rectification Process


The process of license rectification caused by R&D is divided into the following
two phases:
● Warning for software license rectification
● Implementation of software license rectification onsite

3.8.2.1 Announcing the Rectification on Software License Issues (Owner:


R&D)
If a project cannot be successfully delivered because of a license issue, the product
R&D department will give a notice for license rectification based on the affected
scope and measures. The process is as follows:

3.8.2.2 Implementation of Software License Rectification Onsite (Led by the


Frontline)

4 Temporary License Application for


Enterprise Business

Temporary licenses are used for POC test in market expansion stage, product
showcase, and test before product launch. A temporary license has a fixed validity
period.
When a temporary license is used on a commercial network, tell the customer the
risks and make a written record. When a license is activated for the first time, the
validity period needs to be filled in. The license with a fixed validity period cannot
be adjusted and the customer name cannot be changed.

4.1 Pre-sale Expansion License

4.1.1 Application Scenarios


● Technical evaluation and production selection by customer: Tests initiated by
the customer before an RFP/RFI/centralized procurement to learn the
technical strength of suppliers and to co-develop the RFP/RFI/centralized
procurement notice with suppliers.
● Contest: Tests based on an RFP/RFI/centralized procurement notice to
determine the shortlisted suppliers.
● Test after winning the bidding: Function test after winning the bidding.
● Network admission test (not in plan): Tests triggered by project expansion,
checking whether the functions abide by local laws. The tests are not in the
network admission test plan of the product line.
● Demo/Test for unplanned customers: Tests performed for unplanned
customers (excluding certification channels), including demo test.
● Trial and buy test: Trial use for customers, so that customers may accept
Huawei solutions after trial use and sign the contract.

4.1.2 Precautions
● The pre-sales expansion license can be issued only after being approved by
the direct supervisor and regional directors of the product department of the
enterprise business.

● The validity period of the pre-sales expansion license is 180 days.


● The pre-sales expansion license cannot be used on customers' commercial
networks.

4.1.3 Procedure

Temporary License > Pre-sale Expansion License Application.
Step 2 Set mandatory parameters, including the product version, customer, direct
supervisor, and reason.
Step 3 Configure part information, enter the ESN (obtained based on 8.3 Obtaining an
ESN from eSight), and click Add Equipment. If multiple ESNs exist, separate
them with commas (,). After confirming the parameters, click Approve.

The My Task > My Application page is displayed. You can check the process
status and current handler.

4.2 Brand Exhibition License


To improve company brand and reputation, eSight participates in exhibitions at
the global level and regional level and establishes exhibition halls in the company
and regions.

In this context, you can apply for the brand exhibition license with a validity period
of 90 days.

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to ESDP at https://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and choose Enterprise
Temporary License > Brand Exhibition License Application.

Step 2 Set mandatory parameters, including the exhibition type, product version,
customer, and reason.

Step 3 Configure part information, enter the ESN (obtained based on 8.3 Obtaining an
ESN from eSight), and click Add Equipment. After the parameters are verified,
click Submit.

The My Task > My Application page is displayed. You can check the process

4.3 R&D External Test License

4.3.1 Application Scenarios


● Network admission test (in plan): A series of activities that must be
performed in accordance with lows and regulations in a country before
product sales. Final deliverables are the telecom or ICT network admission
certificates or official documents issued by the country.
● Product certification and test: To meet local laws or customer needs or
provide quality certification for products, the company (first party) or
organization (third party) tests products in aspects of product safety,
electromagnetic compatibility, and environmental reliability, and offers
certificates to prove the quality. Tests can be performed in China based on
actual conditions.
● Interoperability testing (IOT) over versions: IOT tests that are targeted at
specific public interfaces, standard protocols, and basic functions. Vendors
verify the compliance of their products with network elements prior to
product release. IOT tests are usually carried out in vendors' labs.
● Standard/Forum test: Tests that are carried out to win certificates or
qualifications from forums or standards organizations.
● Joint innovation and research with customers: Lending products to customers
for joint innovation and research.

4.3.2 Precautions
● Self-service download is not allowed. Licenses need to be approved by the
SPDT manager of each product line of Huawei.
● The longest validity period of a temporary license is 90 days.

4.3.3 Procedure

Step 2 Set mandatory parameters, including the product version, customer, and reason.

Carrier Business

In the carrier scenario, the Carrier GTS staff can use either of the following
methods to apply for a temporary license: applying for an exhibition license and
downloading a commissioning license. An exhibition license is a fixed-term license,
which can last for one year. As for a commissioning license, the Carrier GTS staff
can apply for a license available for 270 days for each ESN.

5.1 Applying for an Exhibition License


Application Scenarios
Exhibition licenses can be applied for during major branding activities initiated by
Huawei or attended by Huawei, such as exhibitions, on-site meetings, forums, user
conferences, and demo truck tours. Such branding activities can be sponsored by
regional divisions or the carrier BG. Such licenses are issued for hardware loan
contracts with contract numbers ending with 7X.

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/), choose Fixed-term License >
Apply Fix-term License, and click Exhibition in the overview.
Step 2 Set the project level and product version information, set Configuration Upload
Mode to Manual Configuration, and set Fixed-Term License Operation to
Replace.
Step 3 Configure the part information as required, set GTS Service Engineer and Direct
Supervisor, and click Submit.
Step 4 The GTS service engineer enters the ESN (for details about obtaining the ESN, see
8.3 Obtaining an ESN from eSight) and submits the application to the supervisor
for approval.
Step 5 After the status changes to Close, click the e-Flow number to download the
license.

6 Commissioning License Application

A commissioning license is a temporary license and it reduces frequent license


adjustments on customer network and improves delivery efficiency during project
delivery. When a major or emergent network issue occurs, the commissioning
license can be used.

A commissioning license is a temporary license. After the commissioning service is


complete, the validity period of the license expires. The GTS engineers must
comply with the service rule of commissioning licenses. They should apply for, use,
and withdraw commissioning licenses based on actual service needs. License use
must be authorized.

Note: In the carrier scenario (Carrier GTS), download the commissioning license by
referring to 5.2 Downloading a Commissioning License. The following uses the
enterprise network scenario as an example.

6.1 Engineering Delivery Project Commissioning

6.1.1 Application Scenarios


The commercial license file in network deployment cannot be obtained or is
invalid. To meet onsite installation and commissioning requirement quickly, the
commissioning license with fixed validity period can be used (license can be
downloaded three times for each ESN). The scenarios include:

● The commercial licenses are available. However, the planned configuration in


contract is different from the actual configuration in deployment. To improve
efficiency, commissioning licenses can be used.
● The commercial licenses are available. However, an enormous number of
licenses may be changed when the deployment and expansion
(modernization) tasks are carried out concurrently for an office. Before the
equipment license status stabilizes, commissioning licenses can be used.
● The commercial licenses are available. However, an enormous number of
licenses may be changed when a contract is split into multiple POs that are
issued at different project phases. Before all POs are issued, commissioning
licenses can be used.

6.1.2 Precautions
● With each ESN, you can apply for a 30-day commissioning license for each R
version of each product (approval not required). For each R version of a
device, the license can be applied for a maximum of three times. License
application does not need to be approved in this situation.
● Before the PAC, the commissioning license must be replaced with a
commercial license of the customer. This will be audited.

6.1.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Download Commissioning License.

Step 2 Select (Enterprise) Network rollout before PAC for Scenario. Set mandatory
parameters, including customer, the product version, and commissioning template.

Step 3 Configure license information, add device (NE) information, and click Submit. The
system delivers a 30-day license for commissioning.

6.2 Major Network Issue/Accident Recovery

6.2.1 Application Scenarios


● A trouble ticket has been created for a network issue, which requires a license.
● A trouble ticket has been created for an upgrade or cutover. A license needs
to be applied for in advance.

6.2.2 Precautions
● The validity period of such commissioning licenses is 14 days. The licenses can
be applied for in self-service mode (cc to the AMS director). The number of
application times is not limited.
● After the network accidents or problems are rectified, the commissioning
license must be replaced with the original license.

6.2.3 Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Download Commissioning License.

Step 2 Select (Enterprise) Urgent accident recovery for Scenario. Set mandatory
parameters, including customer, the product version, and commissioning template.

Step 3 Configure license information, add device (NE) information, and click Submit. The
system delivers a 14-day license for commissioning.

8.3 Obtaining an ESN from eSight


During license application, users must use the ESN generated by eSight to ensure
that the license file is valid. If an ESN is generated in other modes, the license file
is invalid, and it cannot be loaded to eSight.

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to the eSight system management tool as an administrator and choose
Maintenance > Collect ESN Information.

Step 2 On the ESN information collection page, perform the operations shown in the
following figure. After the collection is successful, download the .zip file of the
ESN to obtain the ESN information.

Step 3 In a single-node system, the .zip file contains one ESN. In a multi-node cluster, two
ESNs are returned. In a two-node cluster, you need to obtain the ESN information
on both the active and standby nodes.
NOTE

In a multi-node or two-node cluster, bind the two ESNs when applying for and binding a
license. Otherwise, eSight cannot be used properly.

8.4 Revoking the eSight License File


Procedure
Step 1 Log in to eSight as an administrator and choose System > System Settings >
License Management.

Step 2 Choose License File, select the license file to be revoked, and click Revoke
License. Confirm the information and revoke the license.

Step 3 After the license is revoked, view the license information and revocation code.

NOTE

1. Only commercial licenses can be revoked.


2. You need to save the revocation code information for subsequent ESDP license
operations.

8.6 Obtaining a Revocation Code


When the ESN changes due to the change of the MAC address of the eSight
server, you can obtain a revocation code if you want to obtain a new permanent
license file in self-service mode, or if you want to roll back to the previous step
when an error occurs during the license self-service operation.

NOTE

The license revocation code can be obtained only when the ESN is changed in the
commercial license scenario. In the temporary license scenario, the ESDP does not support
this change.

Procedure
Step 1 Log in to eSight as an administrator and choose System > System Settings >
License Management.
Step 2 Choose License File, select the license to be revoked, and click the license to view
the revocation code.

You can use this function to obtain a new license file with the same functions
when the existing license becomes invalid because of the misoperation of
obtaining the eSight revocation code.

8.9 Obtaining the Original License File


Method 1:
1. Log in to eSight as the administrator.
2. Choose System > System Settings > License Management.
3. On the License File page, select the license file to be exported and click
Export License.

Method 2:
1. Log in to the ESDP (http://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose Equipment
(Node) Management.
2. Enter the ESN and click Search.
3. Select and download a license file.

8.10 Rolling Back to a Previous Step


You can roll back to a previous step if a misoperation occurred during site
deployment, capacity expansion, software upgrade, and version change.

8.10.1 Rolling Back with a Revocation Code


Step 1 Obtain a revocation code from the customer or from the existing license file by
referring to 8.6 Obtaining a Revocation Code.

Step 2 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License


Commissioning and Maintenance > Commercial License Rollback > Permanent
License Rollback.

Step 3 Set Rollback Type to Rollback with Revocation Code, set Rollback Mode as
required, enter a correct revocation code, and click Verify.

The license is rolled back.

8.10.2 Rolling Back Without a Revocation Code


Step 1 Log in to the ESDP (https://app.huawei.com/isdp/) and choose License
Commissioning and Maintenance > Commercial License Rollback > Permanent
License Rollback.

Step 2 Set Rollback Type to Rollback Without Revocation Code.


1. Select a proper rollback mode as required, select the region and
representative office as prompted, and enter the application reason.
2. Select the Equipment (Node) check box and click Submit.

A Glossary

E
Equipment Serial A string of characters that identify a piece of
Number (ESN) equipment and ensures correct allocation of a
license file to the specified equipment. It is also
called "equipment fingerprint".
Entitlement ID The Entitlement ID is generated by the license
system for authenticating the user's identity
during activation. It is the only license key that
can be found on the ESDP.

L
License Serial A unique number that identifies a license file.
Number (LSN)
License A permission that the vendor provides for the user
with a specific function, capacity, and duration of
a product. A license can be a file or a serial
number. Usually the license consists of encrypted
codes. The operation authority granted varies with
the level of the license.
License File The license file is an authorization for the
capacity, functions, and validity period of the
installed software. The license file is a .dat file
that is generated using the special encryption tool
according to the contract, and is delivered
electronically. The customer needs to load the
license on the device or software before the
functions supported by the license are applicable.

License Certificate It specifies the software authorization range and


protects the rights of buyers. The authorization is
protected by law. The buyers can use the software
in the specified range, but cannot exceed the
range (including product software version, feature,
capacity, location, and time).
Huawei license certificate is in electronic or
printed format and made together with the sales
contract. The certificate contains information such
as product name, authorization ID, and validity
period. The printed certificates are delivered with
the products. The electronic certificate in PDF
format is sent to the customers' email boxes by
the license management system.

P
Preliminary Based on the contract, customers and Huawei sign
Acceptance the acceptance certificate for network devices and
Certificate (PAC) related services. Obtaining the certificate is one of
the conditions for starting engineering to
maintenance (ETM) handover. The PACs include
but are not limited to PAC, RFS, and PAT.

R
Revocation Code A character string that is generated after the
invalidity command is executed. The character
string can be used to change the ESN at the
license website. After the invalidity command is
executed, the license file is invalid.

S
Subscription and The commercial mode of the annual software SnS
support (SnS) fee consists of two parts, including software
support and software subscription, and the
complete software charging mode consists of the
annual software SnS fee and software license fee.
