M.Ed.

in TESOL, Literacy, and Culture

As an education professional, I intended to learn cultural and linguistical approaches to

teaching English in diverse communities in the USA and abroad and help students smoothly

transition to using English regularly. I was willing to learn, observe, and practice pedagogical

knowledge with students who are not native English-speakers and help them succeed. I found all

of this inside me when I became a graduate tutor.

It took me some time to find the program that fit my educational goals and helped me

become a better person. I was happy that I found the USD Master’s TESOL because I wanted to

become an ESL instructor for students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The

university has welcomed me as a family member and felt the belonging with faculty and staff.

As an ESL professor, I can be a changemaker to the students’ life and help students adapt to a

school environment, support their social adaptation, and lead their success.
