PIO VALENZUELA ACCOUNTS

Who is Pio Valenzuela

-Born on july 11, 1869 and He was captured and sentenced to life imprisonment, until the April 6, 1956
he died at the age of 86.

-Siya ay isang opisiyales ng Katipunan at matalik na kaibigan ni supremo Andres Bonifacio

-Siya ay isang Filipino Physician and patriot and a revolutionary leaders.

Agosto 19, 1896: Dumating Sina Andres Bonifacio, Emilio Jacinto, Procopio Bonifacio, Teodoro Plata,
Aguenda del Rosario ang unang mga tao dumataing sa Balintawak. At nong Agosto 20, Dumating na si
Dr. Pio Valenzuela sa nasabing lugar.

Agosto 22, 1896: 500 members of KKK ( Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan) ang nag
tipon sa loob at labas ng tahanan ni Apolinio Samson sa kangkongan- kasama rin sina Briccio
Pantas, Alejandro Santiago, Ramon Bernardo at Apolo.
Agosto 23, 1896: Sa bahay ni Juan Ramos, nagkaroon ng pag-uusap at palitan ng kaalaman,
kasama ang 1,000 miyembro ng KKK. Kanilang pinagdiskusyunan kung sa ganap na Agosto,
29, 1896 ba magsasagawa ng rebolusyon laban sa mga Espanyol.

Santiago Alvarez Account ( The Cry of Bahay Toro)


-July 25, 1872 – October 30 1930
-Son of MAriano Alvarez and Nicholas Viarta.
-Also known as Kidlat ng apoy.

meadows and fields. On the two in the morning, they reach the house of Apolonio Samson in

about 1000 katipuners arrived. And on the meetings an uprising to defend the people's freedom
was to be started at midnight of Saturday, 29 August 1896. There main objective was to capture
Manila.

After the adjournment of the meeting at the twelve noon they shouted “Long Lived the sons of
the People!”

Guillermo Masangkay’s
-born on june 25, 1867 at Tondo Caviteno and died on May 31, 1963 at the age of 96.
-Bonifacio’s childhood friend.
-A member of the katipunan.
-Responsible for erection of Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City.

Masangkay’s Account ( The Cry of Balintawak)


On August 26, 1867, the big meeting was held in Balintawak with the purpose of discussing
when would the uprising takes place.

On the strating of the revolution early Bonifacio left the hall and talked to the people outside.
He appealed them with a speech and asked the people to give pledge that they were to revolt.
Bonifacio said “You remember the fate of our countrymen who were shot in Bagumbayan.
Should we return now to the towns, the Spaniards will only shoot us. Our organizations have
been discovered and we are all marked men. If we don’t start the uprising, the Spandiards will
get us anyway. What then, do you say?
“REVOLT!” the people shouted.
They tore their cedulas after the people’s pledge was obtained Bonifacaio returned to the hall,
he informed everyone to the board of directors also voted for revolution. They had a warning
that Spaniards are upcoming and a huge conflagration.

-The official date and place of the first cry were largely based on the account of Dr. Pio Valenzuela. It

that, following extensive research of primary sources, the First Cry of the Philippine Revolution
happened on August 23, 1986. Which is the account of Pio Valenzuela being the most credible.
