Fig (The History of Architecture in a Nutshell | Widewalls 2016)

Architecture has proven to be many things. Comfy, elegant, modern, brutal, indexical,
vernacular, one among its most exciting aspects is its capacity to reflect the spirit of our time in
a way that may be even more substantial than how we see it happen with art.

A discussion on the history of architecture attempts to trace the tenets, regions, and reasons
that played a neighborhood in shaping what we think of today's architecture sector.

The earliest construction was necessary to provide security and shelter, to more recently, it is a
sector focusing on progression and problem-solving.

The old buildings that we can see and document today that belonged to the most developed and
powerful societies and survived the millennia are there to tell us just how carefully they
watched over.

The ancient civilizations had faith in the after-life; preserving the body was a great source of
inspiration for architectural design, so the world's oldest buildings are tombs.

Early architecture had two main functions: to consolidate security and power; to please the
Gods. The more prosperous the society, the more critical these functions became.

Greeks used columns and canopies. Greeks replaced the wooden structures of their public
buildings with stone structures - a process known as 'petrification.'

The Greeks designed them so they would "correct" the distortion of human vision.

The medieval period was dark in architecture.

Gothic architecture nourished the arch's potential and the vault in France, both aesthetics and
technology.

Renaissance introduced perspective. They are characterized by symmetrical plans and facades,
pillars and pilasters that adhered to the internal organization, and a general concern with order
and mathematical logic.

Baroque style promoted a more diversified, accessible approach to architectural design, driven
by playfulness rather than rationalism.

Late 19th century, Art Nouveau emerged as a new total style and finally opened a gap for
breaking with tradition.

Bauhaus and De Stijl introduced functionalism and purified architectural form to the most
radical extremes.

The Industrial Revolution impacted architecture and the evolution of construction substance
and style at the time.

The Industrial Revolution divided the First Industrial Revolution and the Second Industrial
Revolution. New materials became available this time, with a wealth of alternative options for
creating more versatile, functional, creative, and much taller buildings than those previously.

How architecture has changed over time provides a fascinating insight into the development of
the human race, from the industry's influence to technological progress.

School of thought is the perspective of individuals who share a common opinion or outlook of a
philosophy, discipline, belief, movement, economics, or artistic movement.

Throughout history, we find evidence of different building typologies, which changed people's
thinking, which developed the building's distinct form in design, material, and architectural
details we see today.

With technology growing and innovating year on year, most industries have been affected by
some industry disruption.

We can build stronger, taller, and more energy-efficient structures. Technology has made
construction sites safer and works efficiently.

It has allowed us to increase productivity, improve collaboration, and tackle more complex
projects.

Twentieth-century architecture has dominated the use of new technologies, building

techniques, and construction materials.

Sustainability has been the main reason behind construction technology. The primary goal
centered on how the industry can continue to develop projects on a mass scale while
considering the effects on the environment.

Enhancing our knowledge and creating new buildings with the vast development of technology
has been beneficial for humankind.

Throughout history, we have created a building with various arts and elements of building for
various depictions.

The Different school of thoughts has affected building in the past as the history of architecture,
and it is still influencing the present and future .
