With this center, students will look at
the fraction and the shaded shape.
If the fraction tells about the
shaded part of the shape, they will
sort it with the Yes sorting mat. If
the fraction doesn’t tell about the
shaded part of the shape, they will
sort it with the No Way sorting mat.
After sorting the cards, there is an
optional recording sheet for students
to complete.
The recording sheet may also be
used without the center cards.

understand fractions for a set.
There are sixteen two-piece puzzles
for students to complete. They will
match the fraction jar with the
correct set of buttons.
The question students should keep in
mind is, “What fraction of the button
set is BLUE?”
