Resources
1. What steps did you go through to create this lesson? With whom did you talk, discuss, or edit your lesson?
I worked with my cooperating teacher to help work alongside the SOL objectives.
2. How did the SOLs and Objectives help focus your instruction?
The Objectives helped guide me into making a lesson plan that was informative and carried out thoroughly.
The SOLs did not specify “Needs and Wants,” however, the overall objectives helped steer me in the right
direction.
6. How effective was the assessment you chose to use? (If no assessment was used, what will the future
assessment be and how will you gauge its effectiveness?)
I would assume my cooperating teacher gave an assessment of their knowledge after my lesson. Their
knowledgeability of the concept gives me high confidence that the lesson plan was effective.
7. To what degree do you feel that this lesson was a success? What evidence do you have for the success of
the lesson? (Hint: Student learning is the key to a lesson’s success!)
The students at the end of the lesson had a great understanding of the topic. I could tell they comprehended
the lesson when they could explain to me what a need and want is, and they kept asking questions to further
understand what they did not comprehend.
8. How did the time spent preparing for your lesson contribute to its success?
The time I spent preparing for the lesson greatly impacted its success. I was able to well prepare this lesson
before teaching it, and I believe this contributed to the lessons success.
9. If you could do this lesson again with the same students, would you do anything differently? If so, what?
I would instead of focusing on needs and wants, go into further explanation about consumers and goods. I
would give more real life examples and go more in depth with the objectives.
