Chapter 2

Configure the Viewer Module

2.1 The Content Suite Viewer Admin Page

The Content Suite Viewer module is pre-installed with Content Server, but it must be enabled and the
Brava! Server Component package must be installed before using the viewer. To enable and configure
the viewer, visit the Content Suite Viewer Administration admin page:

2.2 Enable the Content Suite Viewer

After ensuring that you have installed the Brava! Server Components package, you can enable the
Content Suite Viewer via the Configure Content Suite Viewer Settings section of the “Content Suite
Viewer Administration” admin page. You can select Enable Content Suite Viewer and have access given
to all users or, with this option selected, you can limit access by using the Select Group button to assign
and allow access to the Content Suite Viewer for specific groups only.

2.3 Viewer Server URL

Content Server requires the URL to the web server that is hosting the Brava! Server application. The
Brava! Server Components installer will install Tomcat if no other web server is selected for this purpose
during the installation. The default port for Tomcat is 8080. Therefore, if Brava! Server is installed using
the default setup configuration on the same host as Content Server, the URL to Brava! Server will be
http://localhost:8080, and this is the default value for this configuration property. If you install
Brava! Server on another server, or on the same server but a different port, change this value accordingly,
using the pattern http://servername:port.

The Content Suite Viewer client that runs in the browser must also be able to connect to Brava! Server. In
many cases (such as a small company intranet), the browser can use the same URL to connect to Brava!
Server as Content Server uses. If this is the case, leave the check box labeled “Client uses same URL as
Server” checked and enter the Fully Qualified Domain Name for the server in the text entry field.

If, however, there is a firewall preventing end-user browsers from accessing Brava! Server directly, or if
the DNS entry for the Brava! Server is different for end users, or for any other reason that results in the
client being unable to connect directly to Brava! Server, uncheck the box and specify the URL that will
work for a client to connect to Brava! Server.

For complicated network designs, it is recommended that you use a plugin such as Application Request
Routing (ARR, which runs under IIS), which has the ability to redirect all traffic with the pattern
http://servername/BravaServer to an internal network resource, such as
http://bravaserver:8080/BravaServer. (For more detailed information about setting up ARR to
work with Brava! Server, see the Brava! for OpenText Content Server Administration Guide.)

Note: Do not append the string “BravaServer” to the URL specified. This will be added automatically as
needed.

2.4 Launching the Viewer from OpenText Content Server

Once installed and configured, the Viewer can be launched either by clicking on a document link or a
promoted “View” command. Note that the document link will only launch the Viewer when not
configured to open the Overview page.

The Viewer is configured to view Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), image (BMP, GIF, JPG, TIFF, PNG),
and PDF files.
