GMIT FEES SCHEDULE 2020/2021

FEES FOR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

TUITION FEES: Level 8 (Honours Degree Full Time Programmes)

Applicants to full-time honours degree programmes who are nationals of an EU member state and who meet the residency requirement (resident in an EU member state for at least three of the five years preceding their entry to a third level programme) will generally qualify for free
tuition fees from the Department of Education & Science subject to the conditions outlined in the Free Fees Initiative. Students awarded EEA Citizenship between 1st September and 31st January will qualify for 50% free fees from the Department of Education & Science subject to
the conditions outlined in the Free Fees Initiative. Under this initiative, the State pays tuition fees of full-time, non-repeat undergraduate students (from Ireland and the EU).

Applicants who hold EU/EEA/Swiss nationality but have not been resident in these states; have completed five academic years of study (at either primary or post-primary level) in an EU/EEA/Swiss State and commence their first undergraduate course of study will be charged the
EU rate of fee.

Level 6 & 7 (Higher Certificate & Ordinary Degree Full Time Programmes)

Applicants to full-time ordinary degree and certificate programmes who are nationals of an EU member state will generally qualify for free tuition fees from the Department of Education & Science subject to the regulations governing the Third Level Trainee Scheme. Students
awarded EEA Citizenship between 1st September and 31st January will qualify for 50% free fees from the Department of Education & Science subject to the regulations governing the Third Level Trainee Scheme. There is no residency requirement attached to qualification for free
fees under the Third Level Trainee Scheme. Under this scheme, the State pays for the tuition fees of full-time, non-repeat undergraduate students (from Ireland and the EU).

STUDENT CONTRIBUTION FEES:

Each student must pay an annual Student Contribution fee unless he/she is in receipt of a grant/scholarship

MATERIALS FEE: Students may be liable for additional material fees for certain full time and part time programmes, this fee is not covered by Granting Authorities. Material Fees are not applicable to either Erasmus, Non-EU, Exam Only and students repeat attending Industrial Placement module
only. Please see Appendix A for a list of Departments that incur a materials fee. Letterfrack Material Fees are listed in Appendix B. There are additional costs for some Galway International Hotel School programmes which are listed in Appendix A.

SPECIAL RATES: The fee applicable for eligible students under the Student Support Scheme for Asylum Seekers is the EU Fee.

student will be charged for those credits based on the number of credits and the level of the programme.
