LIGHT PANEL ACCESSORY

MODEL 8·0814
DESCRIPTION
The Model 8-0814 Light Panel Accessory is designed
to fit all Wheel Horse tractors, starting with 1968
models, that were not so equipped at the factory.
Fiberglass Lawn Rangers require special ground wires
No. 9894 and No. 9895.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. IMPORTANT: Disconnect battery ground cable
from the battery. This will avoid hot sparks and
short ci rcu its.
2. Loosen Fuel Tank and move it ahead to provide
working space on the forward side of the dash
panel.
6. Connect the orange fuse wire to the battery posi-
tive terminal. NOTE: On 1971 and later models
the wire may be connected to the A terminal of
the ignition switch by cutting off the large eye
terminal and installing the push-on terminal
No. 102651 in its place.
7. The hood escutcheon plate can be removed by
breaking off the stems with a screwdriver tip.
Install the two ~~ rivets through the hood and
reflector housing. The rivets are held in place
with the push-on nuts, the slotted end of the nut
goes on the rivet first, see Fig. 1 and the Exploded
View Drawing.
8. Insert the socket wires, springs, and bulbs as
shown in Fig. 1.

3. Remove the plastic plug button in the switch

hole.

4. Using the proper switch that adapts to the instru·

ment panel, connect the red and yellow harness
wires to the center switch terminal. Connect the
fused orange wire to the switch side terminal.

5. Install the switch in the dash panel and feed the

wires down through the rubber grommet in the
fuel tank support leaving the fuse wire loose
enough that the fuse is accessible from the top.

9. Mount the lens to the opening and fasten with

the four machine screws as shown in Fig. 2.

10. String the red wire of the harness forward under

the left side of the engine and along the left
side of the hood. Connect the wire leads to the
connector as shown in Fig. 3. Fasten the wire
to the hood with the clips provided. Any excess
wire can be looped and taped to the inside of
the hood.

11. Mount tail light base to the rear of the fender

12. String the yellow tail light wire down inside the
hoodstand (stay behind lift arm shaft) and back
inside the tool box. Connect the black tail light
wire to the yellow lead from the switch with the
connector as shown in Fig. 5.

13. Mount fuel tank back in position. Connect battery

ground cable, and try lights. If lights fail to come Wiring Diagram
on - check wiring diagram in Owner's Manual. YELLOW
The ground for the lights is lransmitted through
the hood latch rod; therefore, lhe lights may go
out when the hood is up. Turn switch to corres·
pond to the off and on positions marked on lhe
dash.
