Jennette Mccurdy: GIVEN

CIRCUMSTANCES:
CAREER:
 Started acting at 8 years old on “MadTV” in 2000.
 2007-2012 she played Sam in “iCarly” from the
ages of 15-20.
 In 2009 she independently released her own
debut single “So close” as a country singer.
 She then played Sam in the spin off series “Sam
and Cat” from 2013-2014 (age 21-22) alongside
Ariana Grande.
 She wrote and produced her own web series,
“What’s next for Sarah?” In 2014 at age 22.
 March 2020, she acted in her tragicomedy one-
woman show “I’m glad my mum died.”
 2021; Jennette doesn’t see herself returning to
acting, she started her own podcast “Empty
Inside.”

PERSONAL LIFE:
 She was raised in “The church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day saints.”
 She left in her early adulthood due to her
fundamental disagreements with the church
doctrine.
 She has three older brothers.
 From 1996-2013 her mother battled cancer.
 Jennette was introduced to anorexia by her
mother from the age of 11 and then at the age of
21 she suffered from bulimia nervosa.
 Her mother and the entertainment industry
encouraged disordered eating.
 Jennette’s sister-in-law recognised the disorder
and tried to help.
 She once lost a tooth from “purging”
regurgitating stomach fluids that wore down her
tooth enamel.
 Jennette also passed out in her friend’s bathroom
due to dehydration.
 Jenette’s mother Debbie died in 2013 when

Jennette was 21 years older shortly after she


abused the use of alcohol as a coping mechanism.
