I am overjoyed to submit to you my application and cover letter in hopes for a position on the 2021
Leadership Team for Camp Connect. My name is Abby Lane, and I am a freshman at UGA studying
Consumer Journalism. Ever since experiencing Camp Connect as a fourth grade camper, I have looked
forward to the opportunity to be a camp counselor because of the campers and counselors I would be
able to spend the summer with. I know about his camp from being a camper myself, and the head
counselors from last summer encouraged me to apply. Epworth by the Sea holds a special place in my
heart because of this camp, and I believe that my love for Jesus, camp, and service allows me to be a
great addition to the Leadership Team.

Last summer I was a college intern for The Gathering Place, another ministry located in Glynn County. I
was able to spend the summer mentoring middle school and high school students, while I was also
discipled by leaders in the community. From that summer I received plenty of experience planning,
working with a team, and sharing the gospel. I also spent my four high school summers interning at the
Gathering Place in their Junior Leadership Experience program that equipped me with many leadership
skills such as reliability and patience. As a counselor you can count on me to be a good role model as I
will be flexible and responsible every week with my team and campers. I desire to be a counselor at
Camp Connect because I have personally experienced the fun and transformation that takes place here,
and I want to serve and provide this special experience for others.

I can definitely see myself fitting right in at Camp Connect, and I am willing to work hard all summer to
make it a memorable week for the campers. I have had experience leading small groups, performing
skits, and planning activities. I would love to grow in these skills and more at Camp Connect. Thank you

Job Description:

Camp Connect is a part of the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church at
Epworth by the Sea. At Camp Connect, the staff strives to create a meaningful camp experience
by engaging campers in a week of fun, forming new friendships, and encountering Christ. Days
are filled with outdoor activities like the ropes course, boat rides, dock fishing, games, art, beach
trips and pool time. Nightly camp-wide competitions bring everyone together and each evening
closes with a worship service. A camp counselor is a paid position that includes nine weeks of
service, with each week serving either an elementary, middle, or high school group.
