Sea trials were conducted in the bay area of Palma de Mallorca, Spain over approximately 10 NM. Sea conditions
were approximately Beaufort 1-2. The vessel performed without fault during the sea trials and obtained satisfactory
data comparable to factory specifications.
The fact that this vessel could attain 27.2 knots @ 2,300 RPM (approx.) where sea conditions allowed, 20% fuel, and
75% fresh water load (approx.) at the time of the sea trials should be considered as being in line with maximum
performance levels, and in harmony with the manufacturer’s specifications.
All applicable navigation and electronic systems were tested during the trials and all systems were seen to operate
within their required parameters unless noted in section 5 of this report.

The hull below the waterline was visually inspected where possible to examine for structural damage and defects and
for any evidence of hydrolysis during the Port Adriano shipyard inspection.
No relevant structural issues were noted during the out of water inspection; the hull mouldings were found in a
satisfactory condition at this time in the areas possible to inspect through the existing antifouling coatings which were
found to be well adhered in most places on the hull.
A suggestion for revision during the next annual maintenance period to remove the multiple layers of old product
coatings to expose the gel coat surfaces in preparation for new primer coats and top coats to provide a smooth
surface which will assist in overall performance and fuel economy.
The areas of the hull surfaces below the waterline which were checked to test the hull moulding relative moisture
levels returned readings which were completely satisfactory for the limited time which the vessel had been out of the
water, with no evidence of adverse moisture ‘wicking’ affecting the dry/passive laminate above the waterline. The
maximum relative surface moisture level found at any location was just 20% compared to the dry/passive topside
areas where sampled. The average relative level was just 10% (approx.).
Stern gear; propellers, shafts, P-brackets, rudders, cutlass bearings, trim tab system components, stern and bow
thruster unit components were all found to be free from grounding, advanced wear, or impact damage, and free from
any evidence of galvanic corrosion at this time. Rudder shaft tube internal flange and fitting corrosion to be addressed
at the next out of water maintenance period.
Where applicable the bonding continuity was checked between the (new replacement) anodes/zincs and relevant
stern gear components and found to be satisfactory at this time with all below waterline through-hull fittings found to
be secure in the respective locations with no evidence of excessive deterioration.

N.B. The images in the above tables are examples of various issues noted during the initial out of water inspection
period, and in some cases, additional areas of similar condition have been noted on this vessel.
The subject vessel as initially inspected, was considered as a representative example of a 2007 model San Lorenzo
SL88 as currently available on the open market with respect to the areas inspected, and with an appropriate balance
of machinery run-time hours seen recorded on the vessel’s display gauges. The machinery was found to be fully
operational and tested without mechanical fault during both static and sea trial conditions. Service procedures are
however recommended for completion during the 2021 season in commission to maintain continued reliability.
Additional issues as noted within this report will benefit from attention sooner.
Below the waterline, a revision of the antifouling coatings was completed during the shipyard period along with all
zincs/anodes replacement. A suggestion for additional revision during the next annual maintenance period to remove
the multiple layers of old product coatings and to expose the original gel coat surfaces in preparation for new primer
coats and top coats application will provide a smooth surface to assist in overall performance and fuel economy.
Above the waterline, the hull mouldings were found in a good condition with no structural damage or defects noted at
the time of inspection that would suggest a compromise to the structural integrity of the vessel.
A compound polish treatment to enhance the aesthetics was completed during the shipyard period and the result was
impressive when compared to the pre-polish lustre of the hull surface material.
Exterior deck, superstructure, and fly-bridge area cosmetic level blemishes that had been noted during the inspection
could be addressed during future planned maintenance schedules as none of these blemishes represent a
compromise to the structural integrity of the vessel.
Intrinsic operational safety systems, such as the anchor windlass system, will need to be revised prior to the handover
of the vessel.
The interior of ‘WHITE STAR II’ was found in an acceptable condition for a 2007 model SL88. No significant defects
were perceived during the inspection that would inherently reduce the overall appreciation of this vessel, and the
various issues which would benefit from attention have been noted within this report.
The mandatory fire-fighting equipment seen on board was within the required annual service dates for the 2021
season. Life-rafts and life-jackets, and the EPIRB unit were also seen to have been serviced in preparation for the
2021 season. Additional items (as noted in this report) will however require servicing or replacement/supply prior to
extended offshore passages.
To sum up; ‘WHITE STAR II’ was considered (at the time of writing) to be a representative condition example overall
of this quality 2007 model San Lorenzo SL88 Motor Yacht. It should be emphasized that regular mechanical and
operational systems servicing works are required to maintain this vessel to a satisfactory, and safe operational
standard, and therefore the implementation of a structured, and effective maintenance programme is recommended
for the future.

The base number should always be 25% of the fresh oil value.
A high base number indicates low contamination level. A low base number indicates high contamination level.
The RNC is an electronic measuring device for checking the physical and electronic changes of lubricants (unalloyed
as well as heavy duty oils) for combustion motors, as well as gearbox and hydraulic oils.
The RNC measures and displays the effect impurities have on the dielectric constants of the oil. Contamination is
generally caused by oxidation, water, acids, anti-freeze, metal particles or fuel.
Fuel sampled from the main pre-fuel filters utilising a Marine 16 Diesel Contamination kit.
Recommend fuel tank treatment with Marine 16 Ltd. type product at the rate of 100ml per 2,000 litres. This treatment
will (as stated by Marine 16 Ltd.) completely kill any residual contamination.
