Dream it possible

Dream it possible is a music written by Chinese singer-song writer Jane Zhang and performed by
American singer, Delacey, and has at least 13 million views on YouTube.

This song used a piano that gave a more soothing and pleasing tone for the listeners, this also gave a
sound that made the song motivating. In terms of the singer’s voice, if you have heard the song, it jives
with the ambiance of the music, which makes this song more beautiful.

Now, as you know, songs are more appreciated if they have meaningful lyrics. In Dream it possible, as
have seen from the title, talks and give solutions about her dreams that are difficult to achieve, and
encourage the listeners to reach there impossible dreams. It also uses a lot of figurative languages such
as “ I will run, I will climb, I will soar” and “We will glow in the dark turning dust to gold”, which is a good
sign that the writer made this with all of her heart.

If I will compare these music to today’s music, this will be the good one, nowadays, music become
popular, because of the beat that was made by computers, while this song still practice the use of
instruments that are manually played. Most people today, especially the Gen Z, doesn’t care about the
lyrics, they just want songs that they can dance to.

As a conclusion, I enjoyed listening in this music, I think this music should be introduce to kids
nowadays, and for the people that thinks they couldn’t achieve their dreams. This will give them
knowledge that there is hope and you can also “glow in the dark and turn dust into gold”.

When you believed
A song composed by Stephen Schwartz for the Dreamworks musical animated feature“Prince of Egypt”.
It was performed by American singer Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. It received mix reviews from
the music critics, but still peaked number 15 on the billboard Hot 100.

As I listened to the music, I have noticed that it uses instruments that has ambiance of gospel songs. The
slow tempo and voices of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston also features a bit of a R & B vibe on the
song.

Now let’s talk about the lyrics and its meaning. As what I have said earlier, This song was created for the
movie “Prince of Egypt” which talks about the how Moses freed the Israelites from the Egyptians and
have successfully arrived at the promised land. This means that most of these lyrics speaks about our
faith on our God, that even though we face many problems and challenges in our life, we must not lose
our trust on him, and always believed that he is their guiding you.

Okay, lets compare this from todays music. For me, this is a lot different, it features values, trust and
faith to our God, nowadays, it’s rare to see this kind of music being in top of today’s music,
Most songs now talks about love life, sex, drugs and other things that are happening in our todays
society.

All in all, I am happy to hear the song, it gives me motivation in believing that we could achieve our
dreams if we just believed and trust on one another and in our one true God. I think this song is great for
people who have lost their faith in life, and received the message that there is hope on him.

You

“You” a song that was performed and popularized by Basil Valdez. It is one of the most beloved OPM
songs in the Philippines. This song is commonly sung by Filipinos in Videoke, when there is fiesta and a
birthday celebration, but mostly by people who’s in their 30’s and above.

This features the sound that are Filipinos are fond for, the sound of a love song and has a romantic
ambiance. This song also gave Basil Valdez a chance for us to hear his lovely voice that makes the people
sing along whenever they hear this song.

What I also love in this song is how the lyrics makes the people relate in the song. It has words that
describes most of our love ones especially our true love, it also has a positive vibe that is one reason on
how this song makes us happy and a chorus that twist everything that makes us cry when you’re sad and
heard this song. It talks about how loved begins and how painful it ends, which is true and what makes
this song relatable.

Nowadays, OPM is still alive, Filipinos still love local songs, thanks to the internet, this become a gateway
for the local artist and ordinary people in sharing their talent and passion for music and singing. Since
the YouTube age, many artist were discovered and had the chance to make a contribution to OPM
community, which I love because their music doesn’t kill the concept of our music in the 80’s and 90’s. If
we compare them, there are a lot of similarities, they a lot about love, the struggles in loving and what
the things that we feel when we are in love. Just like “You” many of our song today talks about breakups
and how did they start their relationship, songs that we can sing along wherever and whenever we hear
it.

Listening to this song brings joy into my heart, not because I’m familiar with it, but because even though
new songs have emerged, people still appreciate this kind of song, I think artist and singers should write
and revived more songs like this, and make the younger generations listen.

One friend

A beautiful country music written and recorded by Dan seals a. This song peaked in one his album, when
it was released on 1984.

I heard a lot of music, and when someone uses a guitar I already think this will be an emotional song. I
am not familiar with this song, but when I read that this was sung by a country singer, I thought this will
be about girls or his homeland that he misses, but I was wrong, never thought country music would be
full emotions.

When it comes to lyrics, it just blows me away, Its relatable, It talks about a friend whose always on our
side, and never leaves our side, when everyone does. Another thing that makes this song’s lyrics so good
is, it reminds us of our childhood, missing those days when you can play all day with your childhood best
friend, no problem no stress.

Nowadays, these kind of music is not that really popular, Although some songs makes songs about
friendships, but it involves gangs and other trouble maker groups, that’s why some kids are encourage
to join, Unlike in these song in which, the singers tells us to thank those who guided, avoided us on
troubles, and stayed on our side.

To finish this, I say, this song is a great song, it tells us that it doesn’t matter on how many friends we
have, important thing is who stays and never leave your side.

We are the champions

A song that was popularized by the band Queen, Many people knows these songs, mostly from 80’s and
90’s, We are the champions can be heard in videokes, in jeepneys and radios. This song talks about the
struggles of the person in the song, struggles he went through until he succeed in life. If we compare this
music in today’s song, this is more of a win, It has a message to their listeners and at the same time,
makes them sing along with the song. For me this song is great and If the queen is still in today’s bands, I
think they’d still make new great songs.

Never been to me

A 70’s song written by Ron Keller and Kenneth Hirsch and was popularized by an American singer named
Charlene, This song is all about a woman who wants to have a wealthy life, she lived in paradise but still
never found self-fullfilment. I think this song is beautiful, the music though doesn’t fit in today’s music.
What I admire about this song, is the message that it conveys to the listeners, it’s that you cannot find
self-fulfillment with someone wealth.
