Hockey
Introduction:
Field hockey is a game that is played with a stick and a ball . Hockey
requires two teams , comprising of eleven players on each team. In
hockey each team has ten players and one goal keeper . Hockey is a
sport that required a lot of practice and dedication . Hockey is usually
played on a rectangular field . Hockey is an outdoor sports . In the
beginning of the match , there will be a toss between the captains of
both teams . There will be a 75 minutes in each session . There are two
rounds of 35 minutes in each session.
National game:
Hockey is the national game of Pakistan . Pakistan hockey team is
one of the best team of the world . Hockey was originally brought
to sub continent during the British raj . Hockey is very popular
game in the sub continent . After partition , Pakistan gives the
status of national game to hockey . Pakistan played their first
international match in 1948 , against Belgium at Olympic game in
London . Pakistan has won this match by 2-1 .
Sohail Abbas:
Sohail abbas is one of the finest player and former Pakistan hockey
team captain. He is the highest goal scorer in international field hockey
with 348 international goals . A notable player of the field hockey game
he is widely regarded as a “ king of the drag flick”.
Cricket
Introduction:
It is a sport which creates magical unity in its people. Although Hockey
is the national sport of Pakistan , but cricket continues to be the most
popular sports . The players of Pakistan cricket team are seens as
heroes by their fans and peoples love them.
Cricket is the most popular sport in Pakistan . Almost all districts and
neighborhood in Pakistan have a cricket team and people start playing
team a young age . Pakistan national cricket team playing International
tests and one- day matches against foreign team regularly .
Pakistan cricket Board:
The Pakistan Cricket Board ( PCB ) is responsible for all National and
international cricket played by Pakistan cricket team . It was admitted
to international Cricket council in 1953 . The corporation has been run
by former cricketers professionals .
Domestic cricket:
Cricket is playing every where in Pakistan . Pakistan cricket Board held
domestic tournaments between regional test regularly . The most

Apart from Inter universities , inter colleges , school, were also held
regularly in almost every cities of Pakistan.
International Cricket:
International Tests , One days and Twenty 20 matches are played
between the Pakistani team and Foreign teams are played regularly.
Test cricket:
The Pakistan is a full member of international Cricket council
with test and one day status . Pakistan played their first test
in 1952 against India. Till now Pakistan has played 430 test
matches . Under the captaincy of Misbah ul Haq the
pakistani team ranked first in test cricket.
One-Day Cricket:
Pakistan played their first one day match against new
Zealand in 1973 . Pakistan won the one day world cup in
1992 . Till now Pakistan National team play 930 one day
international matches in which Pakistan won 488 one day
international matches and lost 413 matches . Pakistan also
played one day series with different counter . Match
between Pakistan and India are very popular and very
interesting.
Twenty20 Cricket:
Pakistan played their first Twenty 20 international match
England in 2006 . 1n 2009 , pakistani team won the
Twenty20 world cup . Till now Pakistan cricket team played
156 twenty 20 matches in which Pakistan won 95
international matches and lost 53 matches and the rest were
drawn.
Achievements:
Pakistan cricket team has won many international Cricket tournaments

Pakistan women Cricket team:
The Pakistan women Cricket team represent Pakistan in international
women Cricket. Pakistan women Cricket team is organized by Pakistan
Cricket Board . Pakistan women Cricket team is a full member of the
international Cricket council ( ICC ) . Pakistan women Cricket team
played its first One day international in 1997 against new Zealand .
Pakistan women team played its first test match against Sri lanka in
1998 . Pakistani women team also participated in One day World Cup ,
ICC twenty 20 World Cup and also in ICC Champions Trophy.
Pakistan super league a domestic tournaments was also played in
Pakistan from recent years. It is a big a tournament of domestic Cricket
in Pakistan. Many international players also participated in Pakistan
super league. The people of Pakistan are very excited because they see
their super star in the grounds.
Football
Introduction:
Football is the popular sports in Pakistan . Football in Pakistan is
regulated by the Pakistan Football Federation. Football is an old as the
country itself . Shortly after independence in 1947 , the Pakistan
Football Federation was created . Pakistan Football Federation received
recognition from FIFA in Early 1948 . Pakistan national team debuted in
1950.
History:
Pakistan made its international debut on a tour to Iran and Iraq in
October 1950 . Pakistan lost their first match . Pakistan next
international outing came in the Colombo Cup where the team played
its first match against India which is draw.
Football in 1960s and 1970s:
In the early 1960s Pakistan produced one of the finest players to over
grace in the field in Pakistan football history. Abdul Ghafoor majna was
the finest player of Pakistani team . At that time Pakistan Football team
was in the top 10 teams of Asia. Pakistan Football was good enough to
beat USSR , UAE and china.
1990- 2003 Decline of Football Team:
Pakistan Football team in 1993 , were unable to get position in the
group stage for South Asian Games . Between 1996 and 1997 the
Pakistan lost all matches in Asia Cup and also lost world cup qualify
games.
2004 and Onward ( New setup and changes ):
2004 saw changes in Pakistan football with a new administration in
place by this time and a new natioanl league up and running . A victory
against India in a three matches series . Pakistan also reach up to the
semi finals of 2005 SAFF Cup . Pakistan also played various series
against Iraq , Iran , Bahrain in which Pakistan got success.

Pakistan has great records in South Asian Games . Pakistan Football
team main achievements are as follow.
South Asian Games:
Gold medal: 1989 , 1991 , 2004 , 2006 .
Bronze medal: 1987.
Pakistan also won series against Iraq , India, Nepal , Bhutan ,
Bangladesh.
National level:
Football was also played at national level in Pakistan. Pakistan Football
Federation announced different National level tournaments. Apart from
this inter universities , inter colleges tournaments were also held.

Badminton
Badminton is also very popular in Pakistan. Pakistan Badminton
Federation ( PBF ) is the governing body for the sport of Badminton in
Pakistan. Pakistan Badminton Federation was formed in 1953 to
promote badminton in Pakistan. Nawab Iftikhar Mamdot became the
first secretary general of Pakistan Badminton Federation.
Pakistan International Badminton:
The Pakistan is an international badminton tournament held in
Pakistan organized by Pakistan Badminton Federation. In 2004 , this
tournament known as Pakistan satellite and the international
Badminton Federation has graded the tournament with A grade and its
point would be included in world ranking . This tournament also
became the stage for pakistani players to compete and see their their
performance in international event . pakistani players also visit
different countries . Pakistan Badminton players also participated Asian
Games , South Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.
National level:
Various tournaments were held at national level . Pakistan sports Board
organizes different tournaments on national level where players from
all provinces participated in this. In universities , colleges , schools and
also in district level different tournaments were organized from time to
time . Pakistan Badminton Federation work hard for the promotion of
Badminton in Pakistan.
Achievements:
Rizwan azam a pakistani Badminton player, won bronze medal in men's
doubles in South Asian Games in 2006 , 2010 and 2016. He was the
men's singles Champion in Pakistan International also won the men's
doubles titles in Syria , Maldives and Pakistan.
Muhammad Irfan Saeed Bhatti is a pakistani Badminton player. He was
the men doubles Champion in 2016 all Pakistan national ranking
tournament. Teamed up with Azeem sarwar , they both won the men
doubles title at the Nepal Annapurna International Badminton
Championship. He was the Bronze medalist at the 2016 South Asian
Games in men singles.
Azeem sarwar is another Pakistani player. He won the men doubles title
at the Nepal Annapurna International Badminton Championship in
2017.
Women Badminton players:
Aisha Akram is a pakistani female player. She won Bronze medal in
Colombo 2006 South Asian Games.
Sehra Akram is a pakistani Badminton player, she won Bronze medal in
2019 Kathmandu South Asian Games.

Boxing in Pakistan:
The Pakistan Boxing Federation is the governing body of amateur

necessary equipment’s and facilities. They have won medals at the
Olympic and commonwealth Games.

Muhammad waseem:
Muhammad waseem is pakistani professional boxer who
challenge for the IBF flyweight title in 2018, known for his
quick and swift style of Boxing . His main achievements are as
follow.
Won Bronze medal In 2010 commonwealth Games in
new Delhi India.
Won Bronze medal in kings Cup , Bangkok, Thailand
2009.
Won Gold medal in world Combat Games in china.
Silver medal in 11th South Asian Games, Dhaka

Abrar Husain:
Abrar Hussain was a professional pakistani welterweight and
light middleweight Boxer.He represented Pakistan in 1984 ,
1988 and 1992 summer Olympic. In 1985 South Asian Games
he won Gold medal in Dhaka Bangladesh. He also won Gold
medal in 1990 Asian Games.
Table Tennis:
The Pakistan table tennis Federation is the national game
body to develop and promote the sport of Table tennis in
Pakistan. The first National Table tennis Championship was
held in the Burt institute Lahore. The Pakistan Table tennis
Federation is also a member of international Table tennis
Federation.
Achievements:
Pakistan won five Bronze medals in the 10 south Asian
Games held in Colombo in 2006.
Pakistan won one bronze medal ( boys under 15 ) in
Indian junior open tournament.
Pakistan also won one bronze medal in the fajr
international Cadet and junior table tennis
Championship held in December 2007.
Pakistan also hosted the 2008 south Asian junior Table
tennis Championship in Karachi.
Pakistan Table tennis females player won also one
bronze medal in the 11 South Asian Games in Dhaka
Bangladesh in 2010.
Volley ball:
Pakistan volley ball Federation was founded in 1955. There after volley
ball was taken up at the National level . in Pakistan during the 50s and
60s the standard of volley ball was quite high as comparable to other
Asian countries.
Achievements:
Pakistani volley ball team won Bronze medal in 1962 Asian Games in
Jakarta. In 1989 Pakistan volley ball team obtained 4th position in the
Asian volleyball Championship held in Seoul and defeated national
team of India in the 4th South Asian Federation Games held in
Islamabad.
In 2007 Pakistan volley ball team won one silver and one bronze medal
in 2nd Asian central zone volley bal. Championship held in Colombo and
also in 2nd commonwealth volley ball Championship held in India
respectively. Presently Pakistan volley ball team are standing in 46
position out of 220 in the world and 7 out 64 in the Asia .
Squash:
Although hockey is the national sport of Pakistan and Cricket is by far
the most popular one but Pakistan achieved most success in squash.
Pakistan dominated squash like no other country in the world , the
domination lasting for the best part of 5 decades. It reached its peak in
the 1980s and 1990s during the reigns of Jahangir khan and Jansher
khan
History:
Hashim khan was the first pakistani to dominate the sport. Having been
a squash coach in the British army , when Pakistan gained
independence , he joined as a coach for the Pakistan Air force . Hashim
khan showed great skill and speed and in 1951 competed on the
prestigious British open . It was here he laid the foundation of Pakistan
dominance in squash.
Achievements:
Jansher khan is a former world no 1 professional pakistani player.
During his career he won the world open a record eight times . jansher
khan is widely regarded as greatest squash player of all the time . He is
also said as player of millennium.
Jahangir khan is also a fine and top most player of Pakistani squash.
He won the world open six times and the British open ten times.
Jahangir khan is regarded as the greatest player of squash in the world.
Pakistan Squash Federation:
Pakistan Squash Federation is the national governing body for the
squash in Pakistan. The Federation was founded in 1950.
Tennis:
History:
Khawaja Saeed Hai was the first pakistani to reach a grand slam
tournament playing at Wimbledon and US- open and the French
open. Where he made it to the third round . Haroon Rahim was
very successful player, he was the winner of a number if singles
and doubles titles. Now Aisam ul haq Qureshi created history in
pakistani tennis , and he reached the finals of 2010 US open men’s
doubles and US open mixed doubles.

who is notable for playing longest Rubber for 5 hours 20 minutes
against Mark nielson from new Zealand in Islamabad in 2004.
Pakistan Tennis Federation:
Pakistan Tennis Federation is the governing body of tennis in Pakistan.
Pakistan Tennis Federation played a vital role in the development of
domestic , national and international tennis in Pakistan producing a
number of young talented players. It also governs tournaments like
Pakistan Fed cup and Devis Cup.
Traditional Games:
Kabaddi:
Pakistan national kabaddi team represent Pakistan in
international kabaddi. The Pakistan kabaddi Federation manage
the team. As a native sport of Punjab , kabaddi was more or less
played in all rural parts of all provinces. The sport is extremely
popular in South Asia where it is played with great spirit and
enthusiasm in Pakistan.
Asian style kabaddi is the most popular form in Pakistan as well as
most of South Asia which is why it is used in the South East Asian
Games.
The Pakistan kabaddi Federation was formed in 1964. The first
National level kabaddi tournament was played in 1966.

Gulli Danda:
Gulli Danda is a game that is played in the rural areas of Pakistan. Two
sticks are used in this game one is large stick called Danda and other is
gulli which is smaller one . Danda is used to hit the gulli in this game.
Gulli has some regional name as well . Gulli Danda is the Punjabi name .
It is said that gulli danda is the origin of some western games such as
softball , baseball and cricket. Game equipment’s for gulli danda are
made of wood. This game is very popular in Punjab and Sindh. This is
most popular among children’s.
