Significant physical features; brief history; people;

cultural heritage
Iligan City, dubbed the "City of Majestic Waterfalls" in the Philippines, is
home to the Maria Cristina Falls, one of the country's most famous
waterfalls, as well as 20 other towering falls.
Tinago Falls offers another waterfall adventure. Tinago Falls, as its names
imply, is a valued natural wonder in the city.
Another well-known landmark is the Macapagal-Macaraeg Ancestral
House. Declared a heritage house by the National Historical Institute in
2002, the Macapagal-Macaraeg Ancestral House is the first house where
two of the Philippines' former presidents lived (Diosdado Macapagal
and his daughter, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo).
Iliganons compose of the Cebuano speaking locals and the minority that
compose of the Maranao, Tagalog, few Higaonons and some other
cultural minorities and immigrants from other places.

Welcome to Iligan City!
Known to be the City of Majestic Waterfalls, pero walay agas. It is called
the city of majestic waterfalls because of the numerous falls surrounding
it. The most famous is the Maria Cristina Falls which is the main source
for hydroelectric power in the whole Mindanao region. Other famous
falls good for vacationers are the Tinago Falls, Mimbalut falls and u can
also go to TImoga springs.
Regarding the history of Iligan…
According to the accounts of local historians who have collated the data
from archives and oral tales of old, Iligan probably got its name from the
Higaonon word “Ilig”, meaning “downstream”. The Higaonon tribe was
one of the first inhabitants of this area who have settled along the banks
of the Mandulog River.
You will also find the ancestral house simple but historic. The furniture
and the things inside the house were maintained well and they revealed
a comfortable life for the occupants. Pictures and personal things of the
two presidents were preserved
