The story Santa Clo´comes to La Cuchilla written by Abelardo Díaz Alfaro is about
acculturation. Acculturation is the process through which an individual, a group of people,
a town or a country acquires and assimilates the traits and elements of another culture
different from their own. In this way, and for various reasons, many individuals or social
groups have modified or adapted various cultural elements of their own by others, putting
their culture in danger of loss. However, acculturation, whether individual or group, is not a
specific event, on the contrary, it is generated over time in a continuous and systematic
way. These modifications take a time in which resistance and domination are perceived.
First of all, the influence cultural occurs when a culture adopts characteristics of an
external culture. An example of this is when a country conquers new territories and brings
its customs and even its language to the conquered peoples. Influence cultural is shown in

Culture can influence other cultures. In my opinion, I agree with Abelardo Díaz Alfaro,
You can try to impose a culture, but for this to happen the inhabitants must to be agree.
