(introduction)

Information is an important aspect and a tool in almost every part of our life. It is also one of the most
dominant things in our modern society. When we get informed about something, we get knowledge.
This knowledge protects us from making a mistake and it makes our life easier. Without proper
knowledge, we often struggle to make rightful decisions in our life. However, not all information we
have acquire is a fact and truth and not all sources we had are reliable, no matter how sound their
arguments may appear to be.

“Misinformation is not like a plumbing problem you fix. It is a social condition, like crime, that you must
constantly monitor and adjust to” – Tom Rosentiel

As an individual, you must be careful about what you consult as a reliable source of information. Even if
the source is in print or posted on the web does not automatically make it trustworthy. You deserve the
best, the most current, and the most reliable source of information.

That’s why we need to possess skills that allow us to determine what when and how to use information
accurately and effectively.

use of information literacy in our daily life.

THE IMPORTANCE OF INFOMATION LITERACY

Information literacy stands at the core of freedom of expression and information since it empowers an
individual to understand the functions of different information providers to the world, to critically
evaluate their content, and make informed decisions as users and producers and media content.

These skills will assist them in becoming independent lifelong learners. Given this information explosion,
it has become increasingly obvious that students cannot learn everything they need to know in their
study fields. This is why information literacy has to fill in this gap through equipping students with
necessary critical thinking for effective problem solving and becoming lifelong learners

Information literacy has real world applications beyond the classroom. It can apply to many situations
and can lead to the success of a certain activities. They are essentially skills that help you learn how to
navigate information and to identify misinformation or disinformation. This is crucial especially in terms
of politics, pandemics, and all of the other things that are happening in our world.
