Personnel Specification

In developing the criteria for the personnel specification, you should be precise and concise in your
wording. It is not appropriate to have a very long list of essential criteria. As a rule of thumb there should
be no more than two-three essential criteria in each of the sections of the personnel specification.

Educational and Essential Educated to degree or postgraduate level (or equivalent or higher) in
Professional Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline
Qualifications

Equivalent relevant experience and a professional qualification.

Desirabl Membership of a relevant professional body e.g. British Computer


e Society.

ITIL Foundation or similar quality assurance certification.


Previous Experience/ Essential Experience of managing large database systems in Oracle, SQL Server
Training and MySQL technologies.

Knowledge of the administration, installation and optimization of either


SQL Server 2015 (or higher) or Oracle 11G (or higher) and a good
working knowledge of either T/SQL or PL/SQL.

Knowledge of enterprise applications such as student record systems,


HR/Payroll or Finance systems.
Desirabl Experience of MySQL and SQL Server management.

Experience of systems management in a Higher Education environment.

Extensive experience of supporting complex systems development and a


thorough understanding of their business-related processes and
procedures
Job Related Essential Evidence of successful leadership, management and mentoring of a team
Achievements of technical or computing specialists.

Evidence of preparing tender specifications and of undertaking


evaluations for large software / hardware systems.

Evidence of a user-focused approach to service design and delivery.


Desirabl Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects within a team

Experience of planning, costs estimation and resource management;

Experience of existing and emerging information technologies pertinent


to Higher Education;
Inter-Personal Skills Essential Excellent written and oral communication skills.
