Voting Unit Plan Newsletter

On April Monday, April 24, we will be starting our new unit in social studies. This
unit is all about voting, the voting process, the history of voting, voting rights, and
current issues surrounding voting today.

Students will be participating in online quests to learn

about the basics of voting and the voting process. Students
will be researching important figures pertaining to voting in
our countries history and learning the impacts of our key
historical documents. Students are going to learn about the
struggles our country went through to grant voting rights to
all citizens of the United States of America.

Students will be learning about the importance of

voting, and the importance of understanding different
perspectives and opinions. Students will get to demonstrate their understanding and get to
showcase their ability to form their own opinions by participating in a classroom debate.

Something students can do at home to keep up with this unit is review key terms
and vocabulary words taught in class, keep up with
deadlines pertaining to the summative assessment, and the
take home activity of watching a presidential debate.

Through-out this unit, students will be learning

through multiple different resources, both online and in
the classroom. The students have a magnitude of hands-on
activities and cooperative lessons with their peers that will
give them all the information to succeed on the
summative assessment and final wax museum project.
