Spare Parts
Following spare parts for installation are already included in our offered price.
Considering that our scope of supply is for static equipment, no spares are required for
normal operation. However, in case you require a proposal of such parts for shut-down and
maintenance planning we can send this after completion of detailed engineering as part of
the project documentation package.
Our product documentation is handed over as PDF electronic format and consists of:
Sulzer Chemtech's standard practice is to provide the customer with the opportunity to
review the equipment during our trial floor layout and dimensional check performed just prior
to shipment. The customer must notify Sulzer Chemtech, prior to order, their intent to
participate in the trial layout inspection.
Origin of Material
As a global company, Sulzer acquires raw material globally. Our price and delivery time
are based on this condition. If specific country of origin is required for material, this may
result in increased cost and delivery time.
Global Sourcing
General Remarks
1.10.1.1 There have been no reported problems with personnel safety or installation procedures
with our standard manufacturing processes. Completely smooth or rounded edges may
require additional grinding at an extra charge. Sulzer Chemtech uses automated punch
press equipment with well-maintained dies and tooling along with plasma arc cutting.
1.10.1.2 Equipment will be supplied in the as-cut and as punched condition with no objectionable
burrs. Completely smooth or rounded edges require additional grinding at an extra
charge.
1.10.1.3 The equipment which we supply is all non-pressure bearing internals. Any specification
applying to pressure bearing equipment, including weld maps, does not apply. We will
supply welding procedure specification(s) and procedure qualification record(s) when
specified in the purchase order. NDT and/or Hydro testing do not apply to the scope of
equipment which we supply.
1.10.1.4 The client is responsible for the choice of material of construction. Under no
circumstances will Sulzer guarantee against corrosion or erosion. In the event NACE
specifications are requested, these specifications are applicable only on the main raw
material (sheets, coils) and must be known at the quotation phase. No PWHT is
applicable to finished material.
1.10.2.1 All internals and packing are fabricated with the use of water-soluble lubricants and will
have some residual lubricants left on the surface. Residual lubricants can be removed
with water during the pre-commissioning phase of the column. If an additional cleaning
is required, steam cleaning can be performed to remove the residual lubricants. If steam
cleaning is required, please advise us and the price will be supplied.
1.10.2.2 To ensure proper liquid spreading in aqueous services, equipment should be degreased
to remove any residual substance on the surface. Class 3 degreasing (oil content
<100mg/m2) can be performed as an extra service. If Class 3 or a more stringent
degreasing is required, please advise us and the price will be supplied.
Manufacturing
General:
1.11.1.3 Unless specifically requested, the tower packing height and type of liquid distributor are
specified based on the assumption that there is no angular acceleration associated with
motion during normal operation, such as off-shore applications.
The Management System of Sulzer Chemtech has been certified by SGS in accordance to
ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS 18001

Exclusions
The supply of below items is excluded from our proposal. If any of these additional items or
services is required, they can be added to the proposal upon request and after clarifications.
Sulzer is a global industry leader with reliable and sustainable solutions for performance-
critical applications. From its beginnings in Winterthur, Switzerland back in 1834, Sulzer has
developed to become a leading player in its key markets. Sulzer divisions are Sulzer Pumps
Equipment and Rotating Equipment Services, Sulzer Turbo Services and Sulzer Chemtech.
Chemtech is a member of the Sulzer Corporation and is a leading player in the fields of
process technology and separation towers, as well as two-component mixing and dispensing
systems. Clients benefit from a global sales, engineering, production, and service network.
Separation technology
We develop, design and produce mass transfer equipment and can offer solutions for all your
separation problems. Our portfolio includes state-of-the-art products for distillation,
absorption, stripping, evaporation, phase separation, liquid-liquid extraction, crystallization,
and membrane separation.
Sulzer Tower Field Service is the leading provider of specialized mechanical services to
offshore platforms, natural gas plants, oil refineries, and petrochemical plants.
We have been providing mass transfer equipment services, welding services, plant
maintenance and turnaround projects for our clients on a global basis since 1971.
Process Technology
With our innovative range of separation technologies, we fully develop your process solution
from initial concept and pilot testing to start-up of your plant with guaranteed performance.

We offer a wide range of multi-component systems for metering, mixing, and dispensing.
Static mixers are used to enable homogenization and dispersion of gases and liquids without
resorting to moving parts.
Our central research and development unit supports industrial companies worldwide with
contract research, services such as diagnostics and certified testing as well as one-off
production and engineering. Sulzer’s intellectual property experts also provide consulting
services to external clients.
Our mist eliminators have an excellent track record as a low cost, highly versatile and efficient method
of removing liquid entrainment from gas streams. They can be used for a broad range of gas/liquid
separation problems, and can be easily tailored to suit most vessel shapes and sizes.
Key Characteristics
Manufactured as a knitted wire mesh packing
Can be easily tailor-made to suit most vessel shapes
and sizes
Cost effective and versatile solution for most mist
elimination applications
Efficient functionality
Efficient Functionality
Sulzer wire mesh mist eliminators are produced as a bed of knitted mesh that presents a tortuous path
and large surface area to the droplets entrained in the gas stream. Separation is achieved by
impingement on, and capture by, the filaments of the mesh where the droplets coalesce and drain.
Standard designs are available for routine applications, providing excellent separation efficiency down
to droplet sizes as small as 2 μm, and with a pressure drop typically less than 2.5 mbar.
Most wire mesh mist eliminators are supplied complete with rigid support grids, which allow direct
installation onto appropriate supports such as beams and rings within the vessel. Sectional installation
allows ease of handling and access through vessel man ways. Accessories such as tie wire, bolting,
clamps and support beams can be supplied where necessary.
The VSIR and other orifice pan distributors lack the means to hold liquid on the distributor deck, making
normal distributor level testing in the workshop impossible. Flow testing the VSI-type distributors
requires special accommodates where a mock-up of the column section is constructed to simulate the
tower wall and to allow a liquid level to be established.
The support plate is used with random packings and serves as a gas injection tray to distribute the
gas to the bottom layers of packing.
The random packing is dumped directly
over the support plate, to settle within the
valleys of the structure. In this way, the
RPB acts as a support grid for the random
packing elements, with a large open area to
allow gas injection and distribution.
Perforation size and number, as well as
overall crimp height is dependent on process conditions and required support load. The RPB typically
rests on a support ring, welded to the column wall.
