APPENDIX A: “Schedule of Builders' Works and of Facilities to
be provided by OTHERS” (ESCALATORS)
The Main Contractor will undertake or procure that parties other than JSEC undertake the
following works and provide the following facilities free of any charge to JSEC in accordance
(wherever appropriate) with the Delivery and Installation Programme and JSEC’s builders' work
and layout drawings, and the terms and conditions of the Sub-Contract Agreement: -
A. Works and facilities to be provided by
others prior to commencement of the
Installation Activity
1. Dry, clean, watertight escalator pits and wells,
of requisite dimensions, square and vertically
plumb to within a tolerance of +20mm - 20mm
in compliance with applicable British
Standards, codes of practice, local regulations
and any legislative requirements are to be
made available for the exclusive use of JSEC.
Pit and well walls shall form a smooth
continuous surface.
2. Escalators wells are to be free of non-
escalator related services and of other
obstructions.
3. Escalator wells, pits and related or adjoining
structural concrete works are to be capable of
sustaining without damage or deflection all
loads and forces generated in both temporary
(i.e. during installation testing and
commissioning) and permanent conditions.
4. Structural Escalator support with sufficient
strength to withstand all loads and forces
resulting from escalator operation.
5. Suitable lifting beams and hooks (including
necessary design), installed, tested and
marked along the delivery route.
6. Safety fences and barricades at escalator well
together with all other necessary safety
measures.
7. From date of delivery to Philippines until
installation adequate and suitable, dry,
illuminated and secure storage space for all
materials, tools and equipment, adjacent to
point of installation or other mutually agreed
location on Site.
8. An agreed delivery route for our escalator to be
transported to the final position clear of
obstacles.
B. Works and facilities to be provided during
the Installation Activity, at such times as
may be required by Schindler.
Schedule of Builder’s Works (Escalators)
1. Permanent power supply (in accordance with
our electrical requirements and approved
JSEC contract shop drawings), including earth
wire, to each machine room (unless otherwise
stated, permanent power energization is
required before the date for completion of lift
installation works set out in the Delivery and
Installation Programme.
2. The permanent power supply is to include
main circuit breaker (for both three-phase
and single-phase supply) with lockable key
for safety purposes.
3. Lateral and Soffit Cladding is required prior to
testing and commissioning of elevator.
C. Facilities to be provided throughout the
Installation Activity.
1. Adequate and suitable areas for erection by
Schindler of its offices (for our exclusive use)
and other amenities.
2. Suitable access routes for movement of
labour, materials, tools and equipment within
the Site in compliance with local regulations.
3. Hoisting facilities of adequate capacity for
movement of escalator unit, materials, tools,
equipment and labour.
4. Single phase 230V temporary electric power
for hand-tools provided at earthed outlets at
head and pit locations of each escalator,
together with adequate temporary lighting for
safe working in each such area.
5. Safety fences and barricades at each well and
pit, together with all other necessary safety
measures and warning signage, policing of
unauthorised access over the escalator
location prior to JSEC final handover.
6. Adequate protection to materials and
equipment delivered or installed at the Site.
The Owner shall be responsible for the cost of
any cleaning down, renewal or replacement of
equipment damaged or contaminated by or as
a result of the operations of other trades.
7. Use of mess room’s latrines and the usual
facilities of a building site.

8. A centrally located area in which JSEC is able
to deposit rubbish for removal, by others, from
Site.

9. Work area to be kept free from scaffold until

JSEC have obtained final acceptance for the
escalator installation.
10. Clean and dry waterproof environment
throughout our installation programme.

11. Water and power consumption cost during

installation and commissioning works.
