Quiz 2

A perfect gas has molecular weight of 30 and ratio of its specific heats is 1.3. One kg of gas is
compressed adiabatically in a cylinder 7 times its initial pressure at 1 bar and 27 degrees centigrade.
Heat is now extracted from the system at constant pressure until it reaches a state such that the gas
when expanded isothermally from this state will reach the state before adiabatic compression. R=
0.287 kj/kg-k

Calculate the following:

1. Heat transfer during constant pressure cooling.

2. Work done during isothermal expansion.
3. The amount of work transferred during the cycle and its direction.

Answers

1. 204
2. 161.8
3. 42.2

*Units should be extracted from given statement.
