I was extremely excited to read about the Equine Care Barn Crew Position at the Colorado State University Equine
Reproduction Laboratory. I am currently a sophomore Animal Science undergraduate student at Colorado State
University, looking to pursue vet school or a career in animal breeding and genetics. As an Animal Science student, I
have gained knowledge from applicable courses such as Large Animal Genetics and Large Animal Nutrition that
would help me provide the best care for the horses at the Reproduction Laboratory by using proper feeding techniques.
This position would give me the opportunity to learn and expand on what I have been taught in my courses as well as
give me valuable experience in the equine breeding industry.

I am also experienced with horse handling, care, and feeding which make me a qualified candidate. I own two of my
own horses and feed, groom, and monitor them for signs of illness and injury every day. Additionally, I have
professional horse care experience that I gained from being a volunteer at Countryside Large Animal Hospital where I
cleaned and sanitized horse hospital stalls, feeders, buckets, and other equipment. I also monitored horses and foals
that were staying in the hospital before and after procedures.

I am a motivated individual who strives to do my best at everything that I do. I am extremely detail oriented and care
greatly about the wellness of animals. As shown from my time at Countryside Large Animal Hospital, I enjoy working
in a team setting and I strive to have a positive attituded with everything that I am involved in. I admire the work that
the CSU Equine Reproduction Laboratory has accomplished in the equine breeding industry and I would be honored
to be a part of the staff. It would be an extraordinary experience to learn more about the field of equine reproduction
from a leader of the industry as I am interested into going into animal breeding and genetics.
