worldwide industrial instrumentation market. Flow
measurement serves industries such as petroleum
and chemical; oil and gas; pulp and paper; and
mining and materials.
Flow measurement can be divided into four
categories: control, monitoring/indication, totalizing,

Rosemount Inc. offers three types of flow
measurement products: vortex, electromagnetic,
and differential pressure.
Vortex: Model 8800A Vortex and Model
8800A Vortex with FOUNDATION™ fieldbus
This method is based on technology known as vortex
shedding. A bluff body in a pipeline causes the formation
of alternating vortices behind the body. The frequency of
the vortices is linear with the velocity of the fluid.
The Model 8800A Vortex meters are ideally suited for
liquid, gas, and steam applications. They have high
accuracy and excellent rangeability and is easy
to install.

Reduce Maintenance and Operation Costs
Traditional flowmeters — such as turbine or positive
displacement — need to be removed from the line for
repair; this is costly and time-consuming. With no
moving parts and allowable in-line repair, Rosemount
flowmeters are highly reliable.
Easier Regulatory Compliance
HART® protocol provides the ability to communicate
the instrument status and diagnostics. It also logs any
changes to the transmitter configuration.
FOUNDATION™ fieldbus enables greater access to
the powerful diagnostics capabilities of the
transmitters. These capabilities help prevent costly
unscheduled process downtime by enabling
maintenance personnel to quickly identify and
solve problems.
This method is based on Faraday’s law of
electromagnetic induction. A conductive liquid
moving through a magnetic field induces a voltage
proportional to the velocity of the conductor.
The highly-accurate Series 8700 and Model 8742C
are ideal for measuring conductive processes, including
slurries, without a pressure drop across the flowmeter.
Differential Pressure: Mass ProBar,
ProBar, Diamond II+Annubar, and
Model 1195 Integral Orifice
This method relies on the difference in pressure
that exists on either side of a restriction in a
confined fluid stream.
Mass ProBar®, ProBar®, and Diamond II+Annubar®
are ideal for use in steam, liquid, and gas applications.
The Model 1195 Integral Orifice is suitable for
measurement of any clean gas, liquid, or vapor flow.
