1. SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

The purpose of this document is to define the difference in the Basis of Design for the Gas
Processing Plant (GPP II) from the initial field location (Ikot-Abasi) and the Proposed
Current Location (Kwale as Train B) so as to ascertain the operability of GPP-II (Train A)
at the current Location based on these conditions.

3.8. Turn-up & Turn-down

C2 Recovery Plant shall be designed to operate at 110 % and 50% of production capacity without
affecting purity of the products.

3.9. Plant Life and On-stream factor

Plant life: 25 years


On-stream factor: 365 days

3.10. Climate Data

Ambient Pressure: 1.012 bar


Ambient Temperature (max/average/min): 40/30/20 °C
Relative Humidity (max/average/min): 98/85/60 %
Corrosive (or unusual) atmospheric conditions: Tropical, Maritime
Others (windstorms, hurricanes, lightning etc.): Storms are infrequent and calm weather prevails
most of the year.

3.11. Wind

Prevailing wind direction: South west


Prevailing wind speed: 3.64 m/s
Buildings and structures shall be calculated with regard to the wind action according to the
requirement of BS EN 1991-1-4 considering design wind speed: 33.5 m/s (in 3 second gusts).

3.12. Rainfall
There is a high level of rainfall in the coastal regions over the entire year, with less in the dry
season. The dry season at the site lasts from November to March, and the rainy season from April
to October.

 Average Annual Rainfall: 3000 mm/y


 Monthly maximum: 192 mm

3.13. Earthquake
Earthquake lateral load on the onshore structures will be in accordance to ASCE 7-05.
The following seismic design basis shall be used for design of structures, systems and
components:

 Type of soil - Site Class D


 Occupancy Category III

3.14. Solar Radiation


 Maximum 1200 W/m2
 Design point 1500 W/m2
 Length of day 10-12 hrs a day
 Average sunshine 8.5 hrs

3.15. Project Capacity


Project will include gas processing unit of 200 MMSCFD, storage of Ethane, Propane,
Butane /condensates and export facilities.

3.16. Utilities

The project design philosophy is that it should be “self-supporting” under specified project
modes e.g. start-up, shutdown, upsets and normal operation.
Following provides the list of utilities.

 Objective: The site is to be completely self-sufficient.


 Capacity: To be defined during basic process engineering and Front-End Engineering
design.

 Frequency: 50 Hz

Based on the GPP-II initial Location (Ikot-Abasi) GPM Compositional Value of 4.55 (Case
1) and 5.60 (Case 2), as shown in Table 1, which is higher than the GPM Compositional
value GPP-II Current Location (Kwale), that is; 4.34 (Case 1), 4.44 (Case 2), 3.82 (Case 3),
4.13 (Case 4), as shown in Table 2. Therefore, the GPP-II facility is compatible to operate
as Train B with the existing GPP-1 Facility (Train A) at the current location (Kwale).
