I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
born of the Father before all ages. to judge the living and the dead
God from God, Light from Light, and his kingdom will have no end.
true God from true God, I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
through him all things were made. who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
For us men and for our salvation who has spoken through the prophets.
he came down from heaven, I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and became man. and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
The Meaning Behind the
Statements Made in The Nicene
Creed
A Sentence in The Nicene Creed states “ Who
for us men and for our salvation came down
from heaven and was incarnate of the Holy
Spirit and the Virgin Mary and became man.”
in which means that God sent his son to be
conceived by the Virgin Mary, and was sent
down to embody the Holy Spirit and at the
same time be full human and fully God. He
would be the salvation for us men
What is the Purpose of This Prayer ?
A creed is meant to be a statement of faith or a confession
of what Christians believe. The purpose of the Nicene
Creed was to clarify the key tenets of the Christian faith
in response to the widespread adoption of Arius' doctrine,
which was henceforth marked as heresy. This means that
the nicene creed was created to solve the Arian
Controversy, whose leader, Arius a clergyman of
Alexandria "objected to Alexander's apparent
carelessness in blurring the distinction of nature between
the Father and the Son by his emphasis on eternal
generation", and Alexander was the Bishop during that
time.
