Polkabal is a Maria Clara dance which came from Atimonan, Tayabas, Quezon and was influenced by

Spaniards. The word “polkabal” came from the combination of two most famous Spanish dances way
back 1800s which is Polka and Balse (Waltz). Though the name includes Balse, it is not included in the
dance itself. This regional folk dance is danced by partners; 1 male and 1 female. Males wear the
traditional Barong Tagalog paired with a trouser while females wear the Maria Clara costume. Polkabal
is consist of 9 figures and its time signature is 2/4.
