QUESTION 1: (40 MARKS)

(a) Give a comprehensive definition of the term ‘Strategic Human Resource


Management’ and explain the major terms used in this definition.
(10 marks)

(b) Discuss the matching approaches and universal approaches of Strategic


HRM. (16 marks)

(c) As per the Whittington’s generic approaches to strategy ‘In the evolutionary
approach market forces dictate the strategy to be adopted by the firm’ Discuss
this statement. (14 marks)

(a) For firms, that are adopting the following three generic strategies of
Innovation/Quality enhancement/Cost reduction, what would be the required
employee behavior and the accompanying H.R techniques and approaches
that can be pursued to fulfill these strategies. (21 marks)

(b) Discuss the HRM features which best characterise these models. (15 marks)

(a) Discuss the four major attributes of the Resource Based View (RBV) of
Strategic HRM and how they can lead to a situation of competitive advantage
to an organization. (20 marks)

(b) Using an example elucidate the concept of strategic integration in SHRM.
