Western Operating Area Improvement Highlights
Our customers count on us to provide safe, reliable water service. By continually upgrading our
infrastructure, we plan to keep it that way. This year, we plan to invest more than $1.9 million
to install more than 10,000 feet of new water line in Cabell and Wayne Counties. These system
improvements, which replace pipes dating back to the early 1900s, will improve reliability for
customers, reduce service interruptions, and increase water flows for firefighting.

This user-friendly web-based map shows where West Virginia
American Water is replacing and upgrading aging water and
wastewater infrastructure across the state in 2021.
We think this map is an important tool in raising awareness to
an issue that is typically buried underground, out of sight and
out of mind. And, it provides transparency into our investments,
so you know exactly where your dollars are being re-invested into
replacing old infrastructure.
The map features summaries of pipe upgrades, total dollars
invested and length of pipe being installed across the bottom of
the map for the area shown.
