Factory filled engine oil

Concerns:
All engines from vehicle production.

Problem:
This FST is to inform about what engine oil that is used in production for each produced
engine size and emission level.

Reason:
Updated information:

• D9B, D11A/B/C, D13C and D16G are from week 923 filled with 10W-30, VDS-4
which is a part synthetic oil.

• D7F is filled with 15W-30, VDS-3 which is mineral based.

• All other engines are factory filled with as before a 15W-40, VDS-3 mineral based oil.

Action:
• All engines are factory filled to obtain maximum oil change interval according to
Impact and 175-09, except for engines where Warranty Service applies.
The correct oil change interval depends on Powertrain Operating Condition (POC)
and sulphur content in the fuel (Fuel type 1, 2 or 3).

• The same quality and viscosity should preferably be used for top up. However, all
oils mentioned above can be mixed.

• The upper temperature range for 10W-30, VDS-4 has been extended.

• If the vehicle is cold started at stable temperatures below -15 degrees Celsius, oil
with lower viscosity, for example 10W-30 or 10W-40 should be used.
Below -20 C, 5W-30 or 5W-40 is recommended.

Part number:
For correct oil change intervals and oils sold by Volvo, see under Preventive Maintenance
Intervals in Impact or 175-09.
