WARM-UP: WORKSHEET A 10mn

AIM: Ss will be able to anticipate the topic of the unit. @meenzandteenz

 Start off by explaining the title of the unit.


 Ask Ls: “what comes to your mind when I say the word science? Elicit different
answers from students (fact, experiment, etc). Accept any answers related to

 Ask about the meaning of fiction? (imagination, stories, etc)
 Check understanding by asking students to give you examples of fiction books.

VOCABULARY: WORKSHEET A  15-20mn

TASK 
AIM: Ss will be able to identify the science fiction genre @meenzandteenz
 Draw Ss’ attention to the pictures.
CLASS WORK  Ask them if they recognize any movies?
C1 - C3 – C3  Allow Ss to give their answers
 Ask them about the genre of these movies.

 Ss will be able to identify themes of science fiction.
 To access and activate students’ background and knowledge of the topic.

 Refer Ss to the pictures.

 Read the options or ask a confident student to read them.

 Ss compare their answers with their partners.

TASK 
AIM: Ss will be able to describe sci-fi films using adjectives

 Draw Ss’ attention to the adjectives box.


 Go over the adjectives and explain the meaning of the words.
PAIR WORK  Explain to Ss that they will write a dialogue similar the one provided to
C1- C2 – C3 describe science fiction films they watched before.
 Ss can use the examples provided in TASK
 Ss act out their dialogues.

LISTENING: WORKSHEET A  15mn

TASK  SPEAKING
 Ask Ss to look at the picture and ask them if they have watched the film.
PAIR WORK  Ask them what type it is. (fantacy)

 Ss share their thoughts about the film.

 Explain the meaning of the title “The Author Behind the Legend” by
referring to JRR Tolkien

AIM: Ss will be able to improve their listening for specific information.

TASK 
INDIVIDUAL  Tell Ss that they are going to listen to an interview about JRR Tolkien. They
WORK listen and mark the statements as true or false, but before that they should
