ASSESSMENT TASK 1

1. Analyse the organisational objectives provided


in the scenario to identify the change requirements for Fast Track Couriers:

a. Identify requirements for change

 Drivers are resistance to change which can negatively affect the company and
thus should be explained about the change in detail by keeping in mind their
requirements.
 Productivity reporting shall be completed using PDA data.
 It needs to build its market share so as to be the preferred choice as courier
Company.

b. Prepare an explanation of how your identified change needs link to the


organisation’s strategic plan goal/s.
 In order to achieve company’s expansion and to expand business in
metropolitan area so that small to medium package delivers market
share increase by 7.5%.
 to develop an integrated approach to distribution management utilizing
technology such as PDA devices and GPS
 to develop and maintain a cohesive and well-motivated workforce.

2. Review the organisation’s current state to understand how the current policies,
practices and operations deliver against the organisation’s strategic goals.
Review the organisation’s performance against objectives with regards to its:

 Poor relationship between managers and staffs.

GPS usage (productivity function) on truck fleet in the first quarter of
the 2012 financial year. But at the beginning drivers were not happy
about PDA/GPS system. Later on they became agree in positive way.

4. Identify major operational change requirements:

The major operational change requirements required by Bounce Fitness at the


moment is standardizing all its training activities corresponding to Fitness Australia’s
code of practice
Furthermore, another issue regarding performance gaps was Bounce Fitness required
to evaluate all employees’ professional knowledge, ensuring all trainers acquired the
minimal requirements, Certificate III in Fitness. According to Fitness Australia
standard, Bounce Fitness’s trainers required to complete at least 20 CECs (Continuing
Education Credit) every two years. Therefore, Bounce Fitness need to ensure all

trainers of the Centre to maintain such education
needs.

b. identify changes due to business


opportunities/threats

To achieve the goals the organization has to focus on the market changes in relation
to their business. Like competitors are using PDA,GPS so we should avoid falling
behind.

requirements and opportunities.

Improving communication with employees, especially truck drivers because of their


view is that their preferred team is their two-man driver team and they only see the
benefits of that specific working arrangement. So, There is a high value placed on
communication with trucking team members.

Eliminate industrial relations problems in the 2012 financial year. Conclude


negotiations with employees and their union. And Regularly consult with union to
solve the problems related to drivers.

Low employee engagement scores. Drivers cite pay as an issue. Currently


experiencing low turnover. History of industrial disputes regarding pay and previous
change.
