INTRODUCTION
Crompton Greaves Ltd. is one of the leading manufacturers of Indoor Vacuum Switchgear upto 15 kV. More than 15,000 Crompton
Greaves Vacuum Switchboards for indoor application have been put into service in various environments in many countries since 1984
where they are operating satisfactorily.
Type ‘JVAC’ Metal Clad Indoor Vacuum Switchboards are designed for system voltages upto 15 kV & maximum fault level upto 25 kA.
All our Vacuum Switchgear adheres to the requirements of the quality standards & scope of supply of ISO 9001,1994.

SWITCHGEAR
• Metal Clad medium voltage Switchboard incorporates a choice of protection, monitoring and control functionality with
the intrinsic benefits of reliability, quality & inherent simplicity of Vacuum switchgear.
• The Switchboards are fully extensible on both sides and are compatible with state of the art protection system including SCADA.
• Modular design and total compartmentalisation with earthed metal partitions render live parts inaccessible eliminating accidental
contact.
• Independently operated, insulating, automatic shutters are provided for covering the primary isolating contacts with
the breaker in test / isolated / service position.
• Shutters are provided with padlocking facility to independently padlock the feeder and busbar shutters in both closed and open
position.
• Self-aligning automatic primary junctions are provided for connection to the power circuit.
• Secondary and Relay wiring are routed through earthed metal conduits to ensure protection from electromagnetic interference.
• The panel sheet steel is powder coated with Epoxy resin based powder to a thickness of 60 to 80 microns and the
different sheet steel components are pre-treated using a totally automated 7 tank process plant. The standard shade
is RAL 7032 (Siemens Grey), however other shades as per customer requirement can be considered.
• Fixed type Potential Transformers can be mounted inside the Cable cum Current Transformer compartment & Drawout
type Potential Transformers can be mounted at the top of the Switchboard. HV & LV fuses are provided for PT Primary
& Secondary circuit.
• Current Transformers are mounted inside the Cable cum Current Transformer compartment. 3 sets of 3 phase CTs can be
provided. Suitable disconnecting type terminal blocks are provided for the CT secondary circuit.
• Multi-core cable box is provided at the rear of the housing for Control Cable entry.
• Power cables are brought into the Switchboard from the trench through a bottom opening provided in the CT cum
Cable compartment. An undrilled gland plate is provided for this purpose. Minimum 650 mm height is provided for
cable termination as standard. Rear bolted cover is provided for access to cable termination. Arrangement for
connecting the top entry busduct can also be given when required.
• Meters, Protection relays, control switches etc. are flush mounted on the door of the Instrument / Relay compartment. If
required, additional control box can be provided on top of the compartment.
• Easily upgradable for higher fault ratings.
• IP4X Degree of Protection for the switchboard.
• Switchboards are Type tested for Internal Arc as per IEC 60298 at KEMA, Netherlands / CPRI, Bhopal.
• Switchboards are Fully tested as per IEC 60056 & IEC 60298 at KEMA, Netherlands.

CIRCUIT BREAKER
• Full interchangeability and high application freedom.
• Horizontal isolation and withdrawal from Switchboard.
• Electrostatic powder coated and ergonomically designed facia.
• A combination of positive mechanical and electrical interlocks ensure total operator safety.
• Rack-in / Rack-out VCB Breaker with front door closed.
• Type tested for HT capacitor switching application.
EARTHING ARRANGEMENT
An earth bar is provided at the rear of the Switchboard running throughout the length of the switchboard. The earth bus of one
Switchboard is bolted with the earth bus of the adjacent Switchboard. The earth bus can be connected to station earth bus at both
the ends of the switchboard.
Integral Earth Switch having Fault making capacity can be provided for Cable earthing. The Earthing Switch is fully interlocked with
the Circuit Breaker for safe operation. Busbar earthing can be provided through a separate Fault making type Earthing Trolley which
can be inserted upon withdrawing the circuit breaker from the Switchboard.

Following standard accessories are provided with the Switchboard :
Racking Handle for circuit breaker Rack In/ Rack Out & earth switch operation.
Integral ramp for circuit breaker withdrawal / insertion into the Switchboard.
Checking Gauge for Vacuum Interrupter contact wear checking.

OPTIONALS (ON SPECIFIC CUSTOMER REQUIREMENT)

• Vacuum circuit breakers available in Fixed as well as Drawout type design.
• Digital / static / Electromechanical / Microprocessor based Relays and Meters.
• HV Live indication through suitably connected PTs or Capacitive Neon Lamp Indication device.
• Earthing Trolleys for earthing either Cables or Busbars independently for each current rating.
• Independent explosion vents for Breaker compartment, Busbar compartment and CT cum Cable compartment.
• Manual locking facility for shutters in open position.
• PVC / Raychem heat shrinkable sleeving for the Busbars.
• Inter Switchboard barriers with sleeves and gaskets for segregation of Busbar compartments between adjacent Switchboards.
