LOCATION OF COCA-COLA PLANT

Coke owns and operates bottling plants through HCCB - a subsidiary of its global bottling
arm Bottling Investment Group in India.
Coca Cola’s VP of Customer Logistics Wendy Manning once said the company is able to
deliver a drink from a factory to a local store within 48 hours. The secret behind this
impressive figure is local sourcing, meaning that most of the drinks are manufactured directly
in the country where they are sold.
The Coca-Cola Company headquarters in Atlanta manufactures the concentrated syrup and
sell it to bottling partner HCCB, which is responsible for selling the product in India. The
bottling partner sends it to a manufacturing facility, which mixes the syrup with other
ingredients, such as filtered water and sweeteners.
HCCB has 18 bottling plants in India, according to a report by The Economic Times.
However, including its external bottling partners, Coca-Cola has over 55 manufacturing units
in India.

One such manufacturing plant is in Sanand- Gujarat.

Reasons why Coca-Cola chose Sanand as one of their manufacturing locations:

QUALITY MANAGEMENT

Quality management ensures that an organization, product or service is consistent. Coca-Cola

has their own developed quality management system that perfectly aligns with all of their
operations, they implement 5S and Kaizen theories to smooth overall quality.
Kaizen Theory
Kaizen is a Japanese business philosophy in which KAI means “change” and ZEN means
“better”

The three main pillars of Kaizen are:

 Housekeeping
 Waste Elimination
 Standardisation
Coca-Cola uses Kaizen for:
 Small improvements first rather than on the big ones.
 Utilising everyone’s potential and knowledge rather than on depending on few
experts.
 Implementing a continual stream of small improvements at a steady pace rather than
big changes once in a while.
 And done at every place where work is done.
