REGION I

ILOCOS REGION

The Ilocos Region is an administrative region of the Philippines, designated as Region I,

occupying the northwestern section of Luzon. The region comprises of four provinces: Ilocos

Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan. It’s known for its historic sites, beaches, and the

well- preserved Spanish colonial city of Vigan. Dating from the 16th century, Vigan’s Mestizo

district is characterized by cobblestone streets and mansions with wrought-iron balconies.

Farther north, Laoag City is a jumping-off point for the huge La Paz Sand Dunes.

REGION VI

WESTERN VISAYAS

Western Visayas is an administrative region in the Philippines, designated as Region VI.

It consists of six provinces (Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo and Negros Occidental) and

two highly urbanized cities (Bacolod City and Iloilo City). The regional center is Iloilo City. The

region is dominated by the native speakers of four Visayan languages: Kinaray-a, Hiligaynon,

Aklanon and Capiznon.

REGION VII
CENTRAL VISAYAS

 It consists of four provinces (Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor) and

three highly urbanized cities (Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu, and Mandaue). Major islands are the

eponymous Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor, together with the eastern part of Negros. The regional

center and largest city is Cebu City. The region is dominated by the native speakers of

four Visayan languages: Cebuano, Bantayanon, Boholano, and Porohanon.

REGION VIII

EASTERN VISAYAS

Eastern Visayas consists of three main islands, Samar, Leyte and Biliran. The region has

six provinces namely Biliran, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte,

Ormoc, and Tacloban. These provinces and cities occupy the eastern most islands of the Visayan

group of islands. Eastern Visayas faces the Philippine Sea to the east. The region is known for its

famous landmark, the San Juanico Bridge, dubbed as the "Most Beautifully Designed and

Longest Bridge in the Philippines".

grows in swampy areas along

rice fields and has solid,

jointless, and usually

triangular stems.
