Arithmetic sequence: A sequence in which the difference between any two consecutive
terms is constant. This constant difference is called the common difference and
is usually denoted by !!_. The equation is: t,, == t 1 + (n - l )d ) I
Geometric sequence: A sequence in which the ratio of every pair of successive terms is
constant. This constant ratio is called the common ratio and is usually denoted
by r . The equation is: t" == t 1 * r"-
1

Symbols: d (common difference) r (common ratio) t" (nth term of a sequence)

. xample 1: For each arithmetic sequence, find the common difference and the next two terms.
