PROCEDURE 1
(All had contributed into the task and was participative as well)
We learned that successful and unsuccessful leaders vary mostly in terms of character,
objectives, and commitment as we read through their stories and profiles. A leader is
successful or efficient in terms of character whenever he or she is consistent about what
counts, communicates what counts, and models the ideal principles and behaviors.
Otherwise, ineffective or unsuccessful leaders are poor at expressing what matters, and they
don't live the good ideals, convictions, and behaviors they preach. Ineffective leaders are also
engrossed with what is important to them and their preferred constituents. Secondly, aims
and objectives are set by successful leaders for themselves. Long-term and short-term goals
are also useful at determining how efficiently they perform. Successful leaders have a strong
vision of where they intend to go next and set ambitious expectations. When a leader lacks
vision, he or she is more likely to have poor variety of other essential attributes, such as
goals, motivation, and concentration. Finally, commitment levels differ between successful
and unsuccessful leaders. Leaders will quickly lose sight of the fact that commitments are
extremely strong. A good leader is one that has strong beliefs and believes in the cause. On
the other hand, Unsuccessful uncommitted leaders fear setting lofty goals and instead
concentrate on minor setbacks and they also lack a deep desire to achieve their objectives
and are inconsistent in doing so.

UNSUCCESSFUL LEADERS: SIMILARITIES
They are both influential persons in the industry. But both don’t have any experiences of having
notable leadership.
Both are hardworking and responsible individuals.
They are busy and workaholic type of people.
They help and provide numerous charities for the poor and needy.

PROCEDURE 6
Relate the successes and failures to at least one theory or perspective discussed in the
chapter.
We have been aware of our rights and that includes our various opinions or say on certain
things particularly: Political issues. We have chosen the current President Rodrigo Duterte and
Pope Francis as our successful leaders because of their visible proactive actions in fighting the
chaos faced by the Filipinos as well as Pope Francis in keeping our faith on track especially at
these times of pandemic. We may know them both already however we wanted to share a theory
that relates to their successes and failures.
The Path-Goal model is a theory based on specifying a leader’s style or behavior that best
fits the employee and work environment in order to achieve a goal. The path-goal theory can best
be thought of as a process in which leaders select specific behaviors that are best suited to the
employees’ needs and their working environment so that they may best guide the employees
through their path in the obtainment of their daily work activities. Our president guides the DOH

in giving health services to the people. Pope Francis guides the people to pray and worship GOD.
The latter maintains a behavior that could help other people aware of what is right and wrong.
And I believe that failures to do so are all part of their successes.
Follow-up Questions:
The role that luck plays in leadership is that it is a combination of random chance, talent,
and hard work in order to achieve success. If luck is significant, then creating one’s luck is
even more important especially in leadership. People who have the talent for making luck for
themselves grab the unexpected opportunities that come along in their lives. As a leader, you
need to have a stroke of great luck by doing your best in performing your tasks and be
skillful in what you do. You also need to pay attention because it is the most significant
talent to anyone who seems lucky possesses is the ability to pay attention to many levels to
notice and to grab the golden opportunities. As a leader, you also need to think and consider
yourself lucky in anyways and be optimistic. This will help a leader to be motivated,
innovative, and improves a leader’s capacity and skills in problem-solving situations. Luck
plays a great role in leadership since it measures the leader’s capacity to succeed or not. As
long as a leader is honest, responsible, kind, observant, and open-minded, then he or she
along with the group or team will achieve success and have great development.
2. Are there factors about the leaders you researched that might have predicted their
successes or failure before they achieved leadership rules?
We believe there is! Let’s take the late Dr. Miriam Defensor-Santiago as an
example, She s a smart leader, she is also brave and she also called the incorruptible lady,
the platinum lady, the tiger lady, the dragon lady, the iron lady of Asia, the queen of
popularity polls, the campus hero. She has the strong personality of being leader; she is one
of the best examples of a leader. She did not want to be in a cruel community, she wants the
best for her society/community. She can stand alone without others in leading her own life.
She received many awards for being a good leader, a smart and for having a strong
personality as a leader. She knows what the right thing to do for her society. Aside from
(All had contributed into the task and was participative as well)
that, she has brought honor to the Philippines in several ways. She is the first Filipino and
the first Asian from a developing country, to be elected in the United Nations as judge of
the International Criminal Court. The ICC hears cases against heads of state. Thus, she
put the Philippines on the global map in the 21st century. Unfortunately, grave illness
forced her to waive the privilege of being an ICC judge. Unfortunately, she is a great
president we never had.
