7. Have you tried using the same language while talking to friends or other family
members?
Before I was using that kind of language but they can still understand me
though. I use that to make fun to my friends but sometimes it just came out
unintentionally. Its me being “maarte”.
8. Can you easily understand the meaning of the lines from the poem
based on the language used?
No, it was kind of confusing even though I’m also CoÑo. It was
hard to connect each sentence.
9. Who do you think are the types of individuals that use these kind of language?
Those people who were born in other countries but is a Filipino, or those
people who is rich and “maarte”.

Using your own words and understanding, retell the some of the lines from the poem
―CoÑotations”. Write your interpretation per line on the space provided.
1. I‘m like tripping right now I have suitcase fever.
Revised Line: I feel like I’m on a trip right now, I have bunch of suitcases.
Interpretation: The person who is talking feels like he’s on a trip because of how many
suitcases he has.
2. Dude, man, pare, three people can be the same.
Revised Line: Dude, man, pare whatever it is that we use to call each other, it’s all the same.
Interpretation: The person who’s talking states that whatever they call each other, there will
be no difference because it is all the same.
3. So they can see we know how to look where we came from.
Revised Line: So that they can see we remember to look back from where we begin.
Interpretation: It means to have a sense of gratitude from where they started, and also to not
be boastful.
