PLO #3 -

"Demonstrate an understanding of healthcare information systems that affect service delivery

with agencies and in the public."

Reflection:
The artifact that best showcases an understanding of healthcare information systems and
their service delivery effect in the public is in the application I used for my mobile health project
for HLTH 302 Healthcare informatics class. In this project the goal was to take an application
that was meant to help the public better utilize a tool to help increase their own health and
wellness goals. Since I wanted to improve several areas of my health such as walking, sleep and
nutrition I utilized three separate applications. Many applications exist that better assist the
public. The areas that I feel my final project was just a sample of the few free available options
that exist.

The PLO#3 artifact was submitted as a project with a spreadsheet that included the nutritional
facts that I did not include for this PLO since it would be too specific since it only included a
month’s worth of nutritional information. The added benefit of using the applications on a
smartphone is the ability to cross link information and run reports to study the personal data
that is entered. Most applications are designed to be user friendly and will accept user
feedback to improve their approval rating by the user. For these reasons the public health
services and the advocating agencies are better serviced by the mobile products and their
electronic applications, sharing a culture of self awareness and personal responsibility for better
health and health outcomes.
