● Students will learn and identify 3 new mechanisms for coping with their feelings and
emotions.
● Students will then represent what their present thoughts or feelings are by using three art
materials: magazines, glue, and scissors to create a collage of images that captures their mood.

Introduction: ● Today, the class will listen to a podcast that will provide the
students with three coping mechanisms to help them with
negative feelings. Students will then be able to identify and
discuss some of their own emotions with their peers. To
conclude, they’ll participate in an art experience that captures
their present emotions or feelings.
Instructional Activities: ● We can start by identifying and discussing some of the emotions
that we feel in our day to day lives (sad, mad, happy) and how we
cope with them before hearing the podcast. Following the
podcast students will create a collage with images cut out from
various magazines to capture their present feelings.

Identify an activity that is appropriate for K-12 literacy learners. Prepare for a podcast that is less than 2
mins long.

○ Identify at least 3 student standards and discuss how you might integrate these into a
lesson using a podcast tool like GarageBand, audio recording on phone or even
Quicktime or Adobe Audition.
○ Create your script between you and your partner.
