PREFACE
First of all, thanks to Allah SWT because of the help of Allah, writer finished writing the paper entitled
“Interjection” right in the calculated time.The purpose in writing this paper is to fulfill the assignment
that given by Mrs. Yuliana Kasuma as lecturer in Grammar major. in arranging this paper, the writer
trully get lots challenges and obstructions but with help of many indiviuals, those obstructions could
passed. writer also realized there are still many mistakes in process of writing this paper.because of that,
the writer says thank you to all individuals who helps in the process of writing this paper. hopefully allah
replies all helps and bless you all.the writer realized tha this paper still imperfect in arrangment and the
content. then the writer hope the criticism from the readers can help the writer in perfecting the next
paper.last but not the least Hopefully, this paper can helps the readers to gain more knowledge about

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
A.BACKGROUND
In studying English, there are many things to be known in advance. One of
them is part of the spoken word or in English is called Part of Sp eech. In English
grammar, Parts of Speech are classified into eight types of words are classified
according to what he showed the Noun, Pronoun, Adjective, Verb, Adverb,
Preposition, Conjunction and Interjection. But in this paper will only discuss about
interjection only, in accordance with a predetermined scop.
B. PURPOSE
The purpose or writing this paper is to increase our knowledge in this
interjection material.

CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
A.DEFINITION
Interjection is a word that expresses strong feeling or emotion. Interjections are short
exclamations like Oh, Um, or Ah. The part of speech that usually expresses emotion and is
capable of standing alone. Any of the words belonging to this part of speech, such as Ugh or
wow.
B.POSITION
1. An interjection usually comes at the beginning of the sentences.
2. An interjection is often followed by an exclamation point (!) when the emotion is strong
or a comma (,) when the emotion is mild.
3. Do not overuse interjections. Include one when you want to make your point. If you use
too many interjections, your writing loses its power and effectiveness.
C. KIND OF INTERJECTION
1. Express joy ; when you want to express your feelings of happiness then you use
these interjection words like Hurrah! Ha! Wow
Example : Ha! Today I am very happy.
Wow! It is a beautiful place to stay
2. Express sorrow ; when you want to express your feelings of sadness then you use
these interjection words like Ah! Ah me! Alas!
Example : Ah! I have lost my sisters bag.
Alas! She has failed in the exam.
3. Express surprise ; when you to express your feelings of being surprised then you use
these interjection words like Oh! What! Well
Example: What! Is it true that you are leaving this school?
Oh! Really you killed a snake,
4. Express Approval ; when you want to express your feeling of approval for any task
then you use these interjection words like well done! Ok!
Example: Well done! You performed you best.
Bravo! The trophy is yours.
5. Express Calling ; when you call someone for any reason then you use these
interjection words like Halloo! Ho!
Example: Hello! Why are you looking here?
Hello! Mark, please come with me.
6. Express Attention ; when your order anyone to be in attention then you use these
interjection words like Listen! Look! Behold! Hush!.
Example: Listen! To me, you cannot do this at all.Behold! The bride comes.
