Research Assistant Corteva Agriscience

Full Time Job Description

The candidate will perform standardized procedures using manual and automated
instrumentation to ensure timely genotyping of samples in a high throughput production molecular marker lab. Assist
in research experiments following good laboratory practices and will work with research associates in delivering high
quality data within established timelines. Be a part of a team environment with effective communication and
interpersonal skills to ensure successful product development at the Salinas Research Center and throughout Corteva
Agriscience.

● Using standardized procedures ensures that all material necessary for conducting laboratory experiments is
prepared properly and on time.
● Assists with miscellaneous tasks such as cleaning, handling, packaging, and storing laboratory material.
● Operates complex equipment in support of experiments conducted within a research project.
● Actively participate in procedures such as DNA extraction, buffer preparation, and PCR analysis.
● May have limited accountability for overseeing and/or directing the work of others.
● Compile and record information using computer software and databases.
● May write experimental reports, summaries, and protocols.
● May be required to request or purchase supplies.
● May require flexibility in work schedule, including weekends, second or third shift when needed.
● May be requested to assist in other Research sites, laboratory areas or groups.
● Take actions to ensure good laboratory and safety practices are followed.
● Troubleshoot and solve problems associated with equipment.
● Makes detailed observations, analyzes data, and interprets results.
● Make daily decisions associated with managing workload and meeting work objectives.
● Work with team to decide priority of work activities

Requirements: What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

● H.S. diploma and up to 4 years’ experience in a laboratory setting or equivalent education and amounts of
relevant work experience.
● Willing and able to work overtime, weekends & holidays when needed.
● Willing and able to work various shifts (including overnight).
● Willing and able to lift up to 50lbs. without reasonable accommodation.
● One to two years’ experience in a laboratory is preferred.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office products preferred.
● May be required to do physical lifting and work in varying ergonomic environments.
● Ability to speak, write and read in both English and Spanish preferred.

Dear Pier Le Compte,

I am interested to submit my application for the Research Assistant Corteva Agriscience opening
at Corteva. I am excited by the opportunity to work at Corteva because of my passion and desire
to develop technologies and innovations for the generations to come.

As an applicant and student of the Department of Biology of the University of Puerto Rico in
Ponce I am been able to have an extensive experience working and development my techniques
in laboratory. Some of these techniques are PCR, Electrophoresis, applications of an agarose gel,
infrared spectroscopy (IR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (RMN), gram stain, waste
management, and more. Among other skills I have is that I have the ability to speak and write
fluently in English and Spanish, computer skills such as Word, Excel, Power Point, Windows
and Mac programs.

With the experience gained over the years, I consider that I meet the expectations to be eligible
for the position. What would be totally an honor to be part of a company with so much
experience and with such an accurate vision of the future.
