Revision Checklist for Biology Unit 1 and 2 Exam

Starting from Chapter 2

 What is the Ultra structure of animal and plant cells (Difference in membranes) (Chpt 2.2)
 Can we label the embedded proteins and lipids in the cell membranes? (Chpt 2.3)

Chapter 3

 Do we understand the cellular levels of respiration and Photosynthesis? (Chpt 3.2)


 What happens during Glycolysis and dark/light phases of Photosynthesis? (Chpt 3.3)

Chapter 4

 What are the levels of organization from cells to whole organisms? (Chpt 4.1)
 Can we explain transport systems in vascular plants and Mammalian circulatory system?
(Chpt 4.2) Can we label a Dissected Human Heart, Arteries and veins (know Functions of
parts too) also a cross section of a vascular plants root or stem

Chapter 5

 How Homeostatic control / Balance of body Temperature and Blood glucose is achieved?
(Chpt 5.3)
 What is positive and Negative feedback mechanisms? Do we know important examples?
(Chpt 5.4)

Chapter 6

 Do we know the characteristic of Phylogenic trees? (Cladograms) (Chpt 6.1)


 Can we identify animals of similar species, sub-species and genus? (Chpt 6.2)
Chapter 7

 Do we understand Classic food webs or chain diagram and can we label the different
relationships? (Chpt 7.2)

Chapter 8

 Do we recognize the cell cycle, when does DNA replication (in particular) happen?
(Chpt 8.1 and 8.2) page 355 in particular
 Diploid converting to Haploid Chromosome count in Mitosis and Meiosis (Chpt 8.3)
 What is Epigenetics? How does our environment and behavior affect gene function
or Phenotypes? (Chpt 8.4)
 Could we name the different types of human stem cells, their origins and uses? (Chpt
8.4)

Chapter 9

 What are (broadly) the different kinds of sexual and asexual reproduction in plants
and animals? (Chpt 9.1)
 What happens in asexual reproduction in non-vascular plants (ferns and Moss)
Sporulation in particular. (Chpt 9.1 and 9.2)

Chapter 10

 Are we able to identify defects from studying Human Karyotype images? (Polyploidy,
monoploidy, aneuploidy, monosomy etc) Chpt 10.4 , pages 448 in particular

Chapter 11

 What are Autosomal and sex linked genetic/phenotypical characteristics? (Chpt 11.1)
 Can we identify autosomal and sex linked traits from Pedigree charts? (Chpt 11.2)
 What are some of the most common genetic defects today?

Also study all of Unit 1 and 2 major Review questions (they may contain replicas of our
exam questions)
