Economy valued at US$ 2.5 trillions
a year and predicted to reach more
than US$ 3 trillions by 2030.
The Blue Economy is essential to
the future welfare and prosperity
of humankind.

It is a key source of food, energy,

minerals, health, leisure and
transport upon which hundreds of
millions of people depend. However,
the maritime industry landscape is
poised to undergo a profound
transition.

oAbout 71 % of the Earth’s surface is water-covered

oThe oceans hold about 97 % of all the water on Earth
oOver 90% of the inhabitable space for life on Earth
oAbout 90% of the planet’s biomass lives in the ocean.
oHome to a wide array of Coastal Ecosystems (mangrove,
seagrass, Coral reef)

Blue Economy Sectors (Fisheries and Seafood Production, Marine Tourism, Maritime
Transport And Logistics, Etc) are Being Heavily Affected at Different Levels and Scales.

Many Countries are Implementing Policy Responses

And Trade Measures To Solve The Problems

Objectives
To provide an outlook on the challenges brought by the COVID-19 and
explore the opportunities for recovery and improve the resilience in ocean
and archipelagic countries.
