The World Economic Forum in the recently published Global Gender Gap Report 2021 stated that the
pandemic is widening gender inequality across Asia, indicating that closing the gender gap is just as
critical as rebuilding COVID-battered economies.

This is shown in the Philippine’s decline in the global ranking for gender equality. The drop in the
participation of women in the labor market is one factor that primarily emphasizes the pandemic’s
impact.

However, despite the drop in the global ranking, the Philippines remains at the top, consistently
ranking as Asia’s most gender-equal country in terms of closing educational attainment,health, and
political gap among men and women.

The rights to be heard, to be free, to be someone is not a privilege meant and was given only to a
specific gender. We are all playing an important piece of a puzzle that will help a certain community
progress, if one lacks and toss out the importance of one piece, then surely the puzzle won’t and will
not be solved, like how every problem and every voice in the society will be disregarded, then the
government/leaders of the state will not be able to fully reduced or solve a specific problem of the
nation.
