1861
Moonlit of the Wednesday between eleven and
midnight, Jose Rizal was born in the lakeshore town
of Calamba, Laguna. Aged three days old, Rizal was
baptized in the Catholic Church
1872
Rizal enters Ateneo to take entrance exam
with Paciano
Rizal’s First Year in Ateneo. His first prof.
was Fr. Jose Bech. Rizal was the brightest
student. 1873
Rizal did not enjoy his summer vacation because
his mother was in prison
Rizal visited her without telling his father to tell
about his grades
At the end of the second year in Ateneo, Rizal
received excellent grades
1874
In his third year in Ateneo, Rizal’s grade
remain excellent.
1875
In his fourth year, Rizal became intern of Ateneo.
Padre Francisco inspired him to write poetry.
1876-1877
Rizal became the pride of Ateneo in his last
year.
March, 1887 was the graduation day of Rizal
and he graduated as Highest Honor.
April of 1877 Rizal matriculated in UST
taking Philosophy and letters
First year tern, Rizal studied Cosmology,
Metaphysics, Theodicy, and History of
Philosophy. 1878-
Rizal took up 1879
medicine, enrolling simultaneously in
the preparatory medical course and the regular first
year medical course.
1892
Upon his return to the Philippines in 1892, he
was arrested by the Spanish government for
being a subversive and for his reported
involvement in the rebellion.
EXILE
RIZAL’S DEATH
Jose Rizal was executed by a firing squad on
December 30, 1896, at 7:00 AM, in Bagumbayan
(now called Rizal Park) and his remains were
buried in an unmarked grave in the nearby Paco
Cemetery.
