Lesson Evaluation Form Haley Schmidt and Nicholas Ruffer
Lesson Evaluation Form Haley Schmidt and Nicholas Ruffer
DIRECT Both teachers did a great job on presenting the information. I liked that they
INSTRUCTION paused to recap on the key terms that were presented. Throughout the lecture
they also encouraged questions.
GUIDED The guided practice was very good because it allowed the students to think about
PRACTICE the effects through images. It gave them a chance to put their own interpretations
to the knowledge that they have learned.
WRAP-UP Wrap up reassured that students had comprehended the information that they
were presented. The Brain break at the end was a really great idea.
INDEPENDENT Oral history as independent practice was something I had not though of. Since the
PRACTICE event occurred somewhat recently, I think that it was a great idea because
different perspectives could be unlocked by discussing the topic with others.
Opener: Does it serve a purpose – ie… connect prior knowledge to new knowledge, pique students’ interests, engages
students’ interest and directs their thinking toward the day’s objective, review a prior concept, assessment of independent
practice?
Do they state the day’s learning objectives?
Direct Instruction: Is there clear organization of the presentation? Is there limited text on the slides? Are the instructors
clear? Are there enough images? Is technology integrated into instruction? Is content presented in multiple forms – ie…
images, charts, graphs, text, video, etc …? Do the instructors informally assess students’ understanding throughout? Does the
direct instruction seamlessly lead into guided practice?
Guided Practice: Is the guided practice well conceived? Does it seem to support students’ understanding of the lesson? Does it
promote critical thinking? Does it provide students the opportunity to grapple with ideas, share their thoughts and reach their
own conclusions? Is it engaging? Is it creative? Is it rooted in primary sources?
Wrap up: Do the instructors push students to restate the big takeaways for the day?
Independent Practice: Does it reinforce the skills and knowledge students learned in the day’s lesson?
