Butuan believed that the first site of the Catholic mass took place in Mazava, a place in Butuan which in

Albo’s account also mentioned about gold which Butuan is known about it.
In Albo’s account he did not mentioned about the first mass in Butuan instead he mentioned about the
planting of the cross on top of the hill which could be seen the three to the west and the southwest.
Albo’s description about the location of Mazava fits the description of Limasawa Island which is at the
southern tip of Leyte.

Both Albo’s account and Pigaffeta’s account mentioned that the first mass took place on island called
Mazava (Albo’s account) and called Mazaua (Pigaffeta’s account). They both said that from the
Homonhon they went westward the island of Leyte and turned to southwest direction to reach the island
which the location provided by both of them the island of Limasawa in Southern Leyte is counterpart.
It is also strongly noticed that Pigaffeta’s account give more details on the seven activity in Limasawa
island.
Sunday March 31, in Pigaffeta’s account Magellan sent the priest ashore with some men to prepare for
the mass. It was mentioned about the planting of the cross and the mass at the same time. And the King of
Mazaua and the king of Butuan is also there.

community or a country.

3. Garrote- a type of weapon which is often like a rope or scarf used to strangle a person it
is the weapon used to killed GOMBURZA or the three Filipino catholic priest.
4. Secularization- the activity which is separated from religion. For an instance the
separation of businesses of the church and the government.
5. Multiperspectivity- A rise of different perspective that must be evaluated and tested
through showing fact evidence to accept in the community.
